Do you currently have a 27” 1440p and sitting there thinking to yourself that its not worth the upgrade? I was like that too and was I ever wrong! The LG 34” curved monitor is a GAME CHANGER. Sure, people can say its not really an upgrade because you’re going from 1440p to another 1440p, but let me tell you why they are wrong – 7 more inches of monitor. I actually got rid of a dual monitor set up because theres no point in having a dual screen set up when one monitor can already do it all. Productivity has never been better because I can have three applications side by side – I’ve never finished work faster. My coworkers complain when I share my screen because its too wide for their gameboy sized monitors. Gaming is so crisp and smooth and I cant even describe how much more immersive it feels with the extra peripheral vision.
Anyways gaming is great productivity is great 34” curved is great 144hz is great. This monitor has changed my life and I have never looked back. This is a solid upgrade from 27” 1440p and I wouldn’t be able to listen to anyone who says otherwise.

We had a beautiful relationship while it lasted. I had eyes for perfection and you brought that perfection, 34GP83A-B.
You really did.
You were flicker-free. You were G-Sync Certified. You were of the highest quality IPS available and brought me the fastest GTG (1ms) and refresh rate (144-160hz) a gamer could ask for. Your resolution was wonderful and lovely at 3440×1440 pixels. You made games look amazing with your color depth. You were thick, too! A whopping 34″ diagonal inches. Your backlight bleed and IPS glow were low, but the glow of your heart was warm. You were flawless in every aspect and you were perfect for the gaming turbo-nerd.
But in the end, we were just too different.
I could not get used to your aspect ratio (21:9). I spent too much time with other displays that were of the 16:9 flavor and ultimately, my heart wanted to return to what it knew previously (ASUS PG278Q and now an ASUS PG329Q).
It wasn’t you, it was me. I was the fault in our stars.

This monitor is everything I expected it to be. Unfortunately, a 1000$ monitor is not a price range where I would accept living with a dead pixel. Even less if it’s two of them!!! How many more are going to appaer!?! Only had the monitor for a week!
Just received a replacement and it also has a dead pixel. This product to me is LG pushing a batch of panels that were probably rejected for the 850 or 950 models.

So I received a monitor with a stuck pixel right in the center of it. I ordered a replacement for it. The replacement came in with all pixels working but it has a very noticeable green tint on the right side of the monitor. It’s currently sold out so I’m returning both and will be upgrading to it’s more expensive brother 850-B – I believe same monitor, but I hope quality check is gonna be better there.
FYI a friend of mine ordered 4 of these monitors. One of them was with a stuck pixel and another was constantly blinking. So out of 6 monitors only one didn’t have stuck pixels, but it had a noticeable green tint on the right side corner.
It’s a pure lottery. However, If you are lucky and got a good unit – then well good for you. The monitor itself is fantastic, especially at the price point.
FYI – I’ve received GN850 – it’s an absolutely identical monitor. One to one. Even interface, logos, colors, everything. The only difference is pacaging – with GN850 you get two extra cables (that I didn’t need in the first place). However GN850 was perfect. No tinting, no stuck pixels. So may be the $300+ difference in price is for a better quality control?

I’ve been through three 34GP83A’s and three 34GN850’s, all had at least one dead pixel, most had very bad uniformity issues (red tint on the left side of the screen, strong green tint on the right side). None of the above issues are really noticeable in game, but VERY noticeable when doing productivity tasks such as browsing web pages with white backgrounds or working in documents. Very bad quality control for a monitor asking this price.

This is a review for the LG 34GP83A. I saved up for months to get an ultrawide curved and I’m enamored with the quality that LG has delivered. Shopping for a monitor is a really confusing endeavor – the naming scheme is bonkers, it’s hard to understand what combination of specifications meet your needs, and there’s seemingly no satisfactory quality control. That last point is crucial. You’re spending top dollar on a screen that may have dead pixels, backlight bleed, stuttering, flickering, cracks, chips, or any dozen other imperfections. And some companies won’t offer you a replacement because they allot a certain number of factory imperfections. It makes you feel like you’re gambling. It’s ridiculous.
I’ll make this as simple as I can for those of you like me who are only looking for a monitor to game on. This monitor runs at 144 Hz at 1440p, which is the current “sweet spot” for gaming. There are higher resolutions out there, but most games aren’t optimized to run at this many frames per second at 4k. As someone who has owned a max 60 FPS 1080p monitor for the past decade, the upgrade is tremendous. Games run so beautifully smooth, like nothing you’ve seen before. Just be sure to “enable” your monitor because out-of-the-box they don’t run at the advertised refresh rate. On Windows 10, go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties and click on the “Monitor” tab to choose 144 Hz. You also need to use the included display port cable.
21:9 is the aspect ratio which is what defines the ultrawide experience. Most movies are filmed in a 21:9 ratio (hence the black bars). I find it absolutely incredible at immersing me into the game. Not all games are supported at 21:9, in which case you’ll play with vertical black bars on either side, which is not a problem at all since the game itself still runs beautifully. For games that are supported, though…hoo-boy, I can never go back. I primarily play empire-building and RTS-style games. Games like “Total War: Warhammer 2”, “Age of Empires II”, “Frostpunk”, “Civilization V”, and “XCOM 2” were meant to be played on a screen like this.
As soon as you get your monitor make sure to run a dead pixel check using sites like lcdtech.info. NOTE: WIPE YOUR MONITOR WITH A MICROFIBER BEFORE TESTING. I want to let the world know that I’m an idiot who thought that three motes of dust were dead pixels. At this price point, there should be no excuse for factory imperfections and you deserve the monitor you paid for.
In summary, this monitor makes me happy to come home from work every day. I enthusiastically recommend it.

I ordered this item Sep.15 and it was estimated to arrive at Oct.5th. And guess what? It wasn’t in stock until December.10.
Over the 3-month waiting time, I contacted Amazon customer service numerous times. Each time they give me a different answer of when the item will become in stock. I received answers like “it will be in stock on Oct.15” and “You will receive it within 3 days” for so many times – so they just blatantly give out false information. What they do keep consistent is that they all tell me “once it’s in stock we’ll ship it for you and send you an email about its stock right immediately”. But hey, I had to find out that the item was in stock on Dec.10 from Reddit. They didn’t send any email to me. Nor was my order shipped. I had to cancel the item and re-place an order. Also one of the customer services is just RUDE. She literally just told me “contacting us like this isn’t helpful”. I mean excuse me? It’s not my fault that you’re delaying an item for 3 MONTHS? And you’re criticizing me for contacting you about it?
Oh but if we ignore the horrible customer service from Amazon.ca and the delay, and if we’re talking about the monitor itself – it’s perfect. It’s beautiful, the 1440p clarity, the perfectly curved 21:9, the 160hz refreshrate and the nano-ips response time… Used it with an RTX3090 and turned on G-Sync and everything is buttery smooth without tearing. It’s everything you could imagine and beyond that. I haven’t been stunned so much by an electronic device for years. I bought OLED TVs and I bought projectors to use with 120” screens and none of them impressed me THIS much. Also it’s such a great deal at CDN$1,000, feels like stealing. This is the one monitor that dominates. It is exactly the same as 34GN950, but $500 cheaper. All other models are either 100/120hz, or 1080p, or using a VA panel. This is the only one that has everything you could possibly ask for. Just buy it.
