No Kidding I purchased one for my son in Palm Springs (SANDY, DUSTY,
PETS) and for my other son (LONG HAIRED PETS).

My office appeared to have a higher TVOC count than other levels so I specifically bought the VOC filter for this unit. Both the filter and the unit showed up promptly and within 1 day of use TVOC measurement dropped from ~0.700 down to ~0.070. The other levels also dropped significantly. My office is roughly 240 sq ft.

I normally don’t write product reviews for stuff I buy on Amazon because I’m too lazy, but in this case I have to make an exception. My bedroom was always very dusty (probably cause I used to leave my window wide open all the time thinking letting in fresh air on a continuous basis was a good idea), especially under my bed where it would build up. Of course this would get into the air and my eyes would be irritated after a while of reading in bed, and I would always wake up congested and with crusty eyes. This machine is a game changer.

That being said, the product specifies optimal working up to 215-219 square feet. My bedroom is only 160 square feet- and I keep my bedroom door closed to keep out additional particulate matter. So the machine works extremely effectively for my room. I am also able to keep it roughly in the middle of my bedroom for most of the day, and I just move it into the corner area when I go to bed. That way if I wake up in the middle of the night I won’t trip over it. I am always conscious of keeping it 15 inches (at least) away from blockage (ie a wall, or dresser, etc). I want the machine to work optimally and I put a lot of time researching entry level air purifiers.

This machine works folks. It does what it claims to do. 139 bucks for something that will dramatically improve your sleep/health? You decide.

Love it! I have been suffering from allergies for years, gotten worse in the past year since marijuana was legalized… within 20 minutes of plugging in the purifier (with the Toxin absorber filter) at the highest fan speed, I started breathing with more ease. It felt like magic! I can feel internal inflamation starting to go down…. now if I could only make my neighbours stop smoking and using chemical cleaners….

It is mostly quiet -except on highest mode – and really quiet in sleep mode.
Not too big, like the size of a small bathroom trash can.

This will be my review of the Lĕvoit Core 300 True HEPA Air Purifier, for which I’ve owned and operated every day for about a month now. And am quite pleased.

The Design

The Lĕvoit Core 300 True HEPA Air Purifier is a sturdy machine, cylindrical in shape, made of durable plastic sporting a kind of minimalist design that should be easy to fit into any decor, at home or in the office. The unit is cylindrical in order to draw in air from 360 degrees around base of the unit through the True HEPA 3-stage filter by a powerful fan which then expels the clean air through a vent in the top of the machine. According to Lĕvoit, their True HEPA filter traps 99.97% of particles in the air as small as 0.3 microns. This would include dust, pollen, smoke and other air contaminants. The unit is designed to clean an area of up to 215 square feet and is AHAM Certified.

The Interface

Operation is simple through the use of a graphical touch interface on the top of the machine. Press the Power symbol in the centre of the interface to turn the air purifier on. Simply tap the fan icon to cycle through (I), (II) and (III) for cleaning intensity. I ran my machine at (III) for a few hours after set up to really circulate the air and get a good clean. Afterward I cycle between (I) and (II), dependent on my needs (i.e. If someone is cooking downstairs and I’m getting the smell I’ll turn the Core 300 up to (II) ). (I) works well for light cleaning while you’re in bed asleep. There is a late night setting that reduces the noise of the fans for those of you who are light sleepers. I haven’t had the need to use that feature myself as I find the Core 300 to be a relatively quiet air purifier. There is a timer with auto-shutoff on this unit for 2, 4, 6 and 8H. There is a lock icon that when held for around 5 seconds will lock in your current setting to prevent any changes being made by future pressing. To remove the lock you simply hold your finger over the lock icon for another 5 seconds and you will be able to make changes once more. Lastly, there is an icon that serves as a reminder to change your True HEPA filter (Lĕvoit estimates the lifespan of the filter to be between 6 and 8 months under normal use).

The True HEPA Filter

The True HEPA filter is a cylindrical 3-stage filter that consists of a vinyl ultra-fine pre-filter external layer over a Japan-imported True HEPA filter and then a High-grade granular activated carbon layer. You should vacuum the outside vinyl layer of the filter periodically. Doing this should extend the life of the filter and extend the overall life of the Core 300 unit. After a month I notice a bit of dust accumulated on the pre-filter which I vacuumed off. As for how the filter functions; The pre-filter captures particles like dust, while the True HEPA filter collects all those tiny micron-small nasty air pollutants and then the High-grade granular activated carbon works to de-odourize offensive odours. I have read a review where someone expected the unit would miraculously eliminate all trace amounts of tobacco smoke in a room where smoking takes place. The unit, at no fault of its own, is not going to pull odours out of curtains and fabrics where smoke particles have accumulated. It will, however, remove smoke and deodorize the air, I digress, within reasonable expectation. Results for products always vary by person — are you operating the unit in a closed room 215 sq ft or less? Is the unit 15 cm away from walls and furniture? Is something blocking the air-intake vents? On a side note, with the Lĕvoit Core 300 unit you can chose between 3 different types of replacement filters (besides the original filter) for the one that suits your every day needs. These include your choice of a Pet Allergy Filter, a Toxin Absorber Filter, or a Mold and Bacteria filter. I picked up two Mold and Bacteria filters which I have not yet reviewed at the time of this writing. Filters sell for about $35, which I find very appealing because I’ve had to spend a lot more money in the past on replacement filters for other brands of air purifiers. If your needs are simple, you should be fine with using the original filter included with the Core 300. It’s what I’m using currently. Again, Lĕvoit recommends replacing your filter after 6-8 months of continuous use which is quite reasonable.

Conclusion

In concluding, I am quite happy with the Core 300. I originally bought it as a substitute for an older Whirlpool air purifier I’ve owned and loved for many years. Truth be told, I would have loved if the Core 300 had a sensor that could detect contaminants in the air in real-time (as some of the MUCH more pricier machines do), but regardless, I know this machine will do its job and at $159.99 I personally feel that for the well-thought-out design, True HEPA filter, form of functionality, low filter replacement cost AND the consumer’s choice to choose between four purpose-specific replacement filters… this machine is an absolute joy and money well spent. I’m quite glad I made the purchase. So much so that I purchased another Lĕvoit air purifier (Lĕvoit LV-H126) for another room. If you’re new to air purifiers, or are looking for a simple to operate machine with top-notch performance that won’t break the bank — look no further. Highly recommended. If you’re on the fence you can Google reviews and find websites that professionally test air purifiers and rate on their findings. Hope this helped some.
