My 11 year old son is on the smaller side of average and wears a size 10 street clothes. I was on the fence about ordering the M or L because I didn’t want it to be baggy on him. I ended up going with the L and glad I did! It is on the more fitting side but I anticipate the usual stretch wear and tear as chlorine, sea and lake water take its toll. My son says it’s comfortable. I like that the sleeves are longer than average for more coverage. Don’t have any opinions on longevity so I can’t give it 5 stars, but for what it’s worth I’ve gone through quit a lot of these throughout the years, and this one seems like it should hold up through the summer rash guard rotation.
Update: the logo on the front has completely peeled off after the third wear, like previous users have stated happened to theirs. So while the quality of that particular feature isn’t the greatest, the shirt itself does a fabulous job protecting my son from the sun. Applied one layer of sunscreen prior to him putting it on for an all day beach outing (10-6) and he was fully protected and not one bit sunburned when he took it off. So inspite the logo fail, I stand by my 4 stars (minus 1/2 the super small sizing and 1/2 for the logo peeling after 2 usages). Overall I’d buy again for the price and UV protection.

I got this shirt in white. My son does not like loose swim shirts, because it makes it hard to swim in with fabric floating around. I thought this shirt would be perfect, as it is supposed to be slim fitting. However, it is on the side of being too tight. I got it in the largest this comes in, so unfortunately, I won’t be able to try a bigger size. One more thing to note: the colors are white, navy blue, and red. The written description only mentioned white but not any of the accent colors. From my computer, the red appeared orange (which is what I had wanted). If you are looking to match a shirt with shorts, this may be helpful to know. The construction of the garment appears to be good.

Ordered this shirt for my 11.5 yo son. He is on the small size for his age (75lbs, about 56″). He HATES it when shirts fit too closely, and comfortably wears most youth large or 10/12 shirts. After reading reviews and knowing this material I ordered the XL. After just a couple of washings, and only air drying, the shirt did shrink a fair amount to what I would consider a youth medium sized shirt. It is stretchy so hopefully he will still wear it, but people are not kidding when they say buy BIG. If your child is as picky as Goldilocks like my son you can safely go up one or even two sizes. Overall the quality is very good and I think the size issue is just the nature of material. It seems to provide the sun protection needed for my fair skinned red-head, and so far we have not experienced the logo peeling after a few washes mentioned in other reviews. So definitely recommended, buy BIGGER.
