The reason I have given this product a 4/5 stars is because it states it is waterproof but there is no plug over the charger port. I have not tested it because I’m worried it won’t work, although it states it is waterproof. My friend has the clip 3 and it has a plug that seals off the charger port and this one does not so I am weary if it is waterproof. Otherwise, sound quality and battery life are impressive for such a small device. Would recommend if I had some comfort knowing it was I fact waterproof despite there not being a plug over the charger port.

I love this speaker. I work outside all day and wanted to be able to listen to music and not worry about it getting wet, dusty, or damaged. I think jbl has delivered exactly what they set out to with this speaker.
I was surprised at how much sound this little thing could produce and still sound good. I think it has a great sound balance for a variety of music, im no audiophile but I like my music to sound good and this delivered. This speakers battery life is better then I was expecting, it would easily last through a full 8 hour shift around medium volume.
I have 3 complaints:
My first and biggest complaint is that there doesn’t seem to be any way to tell how much charge it has left. No voice to tell you the battery life and the indicator light seems to only be to tell you if its fully charged or not while its plugged in
My other 2 complaints are very minor but worth mentioning.
I have the black version where the rubber buttons/logo are dark grey. I found the grey coloring of the buttons came off almost instantly (see images). This is a very minor issue and only a visual one, but I wish they would have used rubber that was already dark gray, or just left them black.
Similiar to other reviews i saw, My other small complaint is that the clip has no rubber padding so if it’s clipped to something metal there will be a vibrating buzzing sound especially if the music has a lot of base. Not a big problem for me since I just hung it on a short string, but still a small oversight in my opinion.
If youre looking for a compact and portable speaker that you don’t have to worry about then I highly recommend this speaker.

I have been using the Bose Revolve plus since 2017 and I love that speaker. Problem was I wanted something a little lighter and more portable for camping and hiking. I didn’t have huge expectations but I figured as long as the clip worked properly and the sound was decent, it would be fine.
Everything exceeded my expectations significantly. The sound, bass, power is my better than I anticipated from a relatively small speaker. This has actually become my primary portable speaker because of how good it is.
Ended up picking up one for my dad on fathers day and he loves it as well. Great all around.
My only gripe is I wish I could see the charge percentage. Haven’t had it drop on me yet though.
Note that I am not an sound geek but I can usually tell when something sounds bad. In my opinion this sounds great, especially for the cost. Would highly recommend

Clip 4… “We improved the Bluetooth!!!”…… isn’t the whole point of the clip is to have it on your person?
So.. no more mic, can’t answer calls like the clip 3.
The sound is only marginally better in my opinion but I bought this for its portability not volume..
The “JBL” stuck to the speaker fell off in 2 days, I’m guessing the Power, play, volume and Bluetooth buttons won’t last too much longer either. 🤣
Overall… well…it clips to my five point so that keeps me happy at work..
For 60$ I can get over the quirks but at full price this thing is not worth your money.

The clip 4 is finally here. The jbl clip 3 was a big hit, I’m a fan and owner of one. Very sturdy, it took a lot and never failed me. But that pesky unreliable clip/carabiner gave me issues and ultimately failed and fell off. Big pain in the rear since it would no longer reliably stay hooked to anything but still worked otherwise.
So I had to get the clip 4 and maybe donate my old 3. So here are some key things I notice side by side.
1. Size and weight aren’t much different between the two
2. Power and Bluetooth button have switched sides.
3. On the 3 the buttons were indented on the four there is something on top of the fabric to press these buttons.
4. No more charger headphone jack door on the 4 just a usb type c at the bottom. No more micro usb!
5. The pad on the back has been redesigned to fabric with rubber strips (more on that later)
6. Clip/carabiner/hook has been redesigned, more usable in my opinion.
7. Yes that janky pin has been addressed, check photos.
8. Battery specs and 10 hour rating unchanged from 3 to 4.
9. Bluetooth now 5.1
10. Clip 3 just over 3 watts output, jbl claims the 4 is now 5 watts max.
So yes a lot has changed but it’s still the clip you know and love. Another big change is the speaker and passive radiator you can’t see. So the clip 3 has a tiny speaker and an oval shaped passive radiator at the front. But now it seems to me there is a big change. The clip 4 still has a speaker at the front (40mm according to jbl) but now has a (most likely) larger passive radiator at the back. That seems to be the reason for the cloth and striped rubber at the back. I can feel some air pressure coming from the back at high volume.
Holding both, one in each hand you will struggle to notice a difference in weight. Now while size hasn’t changed much, the shape has. In my opinion the wider lower profile of the clip 4 will be more useful in the real world. With my old clip 3 there were situations where the tall but slightly narrower clip was a no go but still so close to hooking up to a desired spot.
The sound. Can’t hear a noticeable difference in mids and highs, but the bottom end seems to go just a touch lower, it’s a bit fuller, a little more chesty in the vocals like say in a podcast. When cranked up top 80 plus percent vollume it’s just a tad buzzy, just a bit of breakup that I don’t hear as much on the 3. I rarely go to that make levels so not an issue for me.
That janky pin has been addressed. Check the photos. The pin is barely visible and the front grille is designed to make that less of a weak point. Will it hold up over time?
Haven’t noticed a difference battery level yet because I’m unemployed, but soon expect to be back to work and the new jbl clip will get its daily workout. The new clip 4 is ip67 so I expect it to be just as robust and a little tank just like the 3. The 3 met the pavement, floor, high and low pressure water, chemicals and soap and never had an issue. If there are any issues I will update this review. Please check my photos to get an idea of how the 4 stacks up to the 3.

I’m very unhappy with this purchase. The sound is absolutely terrible. It’s as if you’ve got your bass turned up to 11 at all times. If you like listening to podcasts or shows while in the shower, this is not the sound system for you because all the voices sound like they’re Barry White trying to woo you.

This is a fantastic little device. I’m amazed at the volume and clarity from such a small speaker. Pairs quickly and easily. The build quality is very good, feels solid in hand. I confirm the device is waterproof. It has been submerged and kept on working…
The battery life could be a little better, but with portable solar battery packs and chargers so easily accessible, this shouldn’t be a real issue for anybody. Only real issue I have is the carabineer is metal (which is good) but it would be nice if the inside was lined with rubber to absorb vibrations generated by the speaker. If you attach the speaker to something that is also metal, the device will buzz due to metal on metal. Otherwise, great device.

What a piece of equipment!!!
I noticed on the clip 3 that most of the bad reviews talked about the clip falling off
They must have listened to those complaints cause this thing is the definition of sturdy
Sound is wayy louder than I expected
The quality I never doubted, my lil bro has had a JBL speaker for a long time now and it’s some pretty stunning quality but I was expecting the volume to be a little limited given how pocket sized this is
Just love it
Wow
