First time buying a refurbished/”renewed” pc. Usually I buy new so as to stay current with the trending technologies. This time around I thought I’d try a refurbished system as a way to save a few dollars and to use this as either my kid’s first PC or as a Work PC. I’ve had this system for about a week now. Currently I’m undecided whether I should return this product or not. Here’s why:

    The good:
    – good price for what you are getting.
    – enough space to install your apps and then some
    – two display ports for dual monitors
    – plenty of USB 3 ports for connectivity
    – small
    – powerful enough processor to get things done.

    The bad:
    – no HDMI output. you need to use a displayport to hdmi adapter. The one that comes with your purchase is a passive adapter, not an active one. And it only comes with one adapter. That means you’ll need to buy another one if you want to set it up for dual monitors.

    The ugly:
    – for my system, the 35 mm jack at the back ONLY does mono. I believe this is a defect of the system that was sent to me
    – for my system, the 35 mm jack in the front has issues as well, in that when you play a sound meant for the left speaker, it also plays in the right speaker. Same with the right speaker, when you play a sound meant for that speaker it also plays in the other speaker as well. Again, I believe this is a defect of my pc.
    – when I hooked up this system to my AV receiver which then connects to the monitor, no display signal is detected. However, if I connect the mini pc to the monitor directly, then a display is shown. I’m guessing this has to do with the passive DP-to-hdmi adapter not being sufficient.

    Bottom line:
Going to give it another few weeks of testing before deciding whether I want to return this system or not. There’s a generous 90 day warranty.
However, I am writing this review so others may be aware that you should fully test your system after receiving it. I am not saying you should avoid this product. On paper the specs of the system are great. I am only saying you should be cognizant that as a refurbished/”renewed” product that has undergone inspection, that it could still have issues and that you should test it out fully when you get it.

The device has a nice size for desk space, and was quick to set up. However, the listing was entirely dishonest with two of the features included.

The title of the listing used Bluetooth and HDMI as included features. They were both wrong. The tower included had 2 Displayport slots and 1 VGA port (no HDMI to be found) and there were no included Bluetooth adapters or installed Bluetooth cards.

I had purchased an HDMI cable before this product in order to connect it to my monitor. Thankfully my monitor came with a VGA cable to at least get video.

I’m very disappointed with this listing’s dishonesty.

The little computer arrived in a large well protected box. It works well once plug in. It is pretty fast in comparison to my old lap top. The computer looks like new without scratch or paint chipped off. Because of the thin size of the unit it can fit any where on the desk. At first it was a big shock to me that the is no HDMI input. There were two input plugs that look like for HDMI but do not fit any standard HDMI cable. However at the bottom of the paper box, there is an adapter provided that can connect the funny plug to a standard HDMI cable such that I can connect the unit to my monitor.

I purchased this Mini PC in February. It was very easy to set up. It has 2 DP video outputs that comes with two kinds of adapters to fit HDMI screens. I was extremely pleased at how fast this little beast is. It boots up very quickly and with the eight gigs of RAM there is no problem running multiple programs. Overall I am extremely pleased. 6 months on and I received a warning from the HP utility that comes with a PC that the SSD was about to fail. It warned me to back up all my files, which I did and sure enough within a couple of hours I got the blue window of death. Of course by now the PC was out of warranty as covered by Amazon. The PC had been refurbished by a company called Refurb Tech. There was literature that came with it stating that if you ever had any problems to contact them by email. I thought I would give it a chance. They got back to me right away. I gave them a printout of my Amazon purchase as well as a picture of the computer screen stating the problem with the SSD. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least that they said they would send a replacement SSD at at no cost, no problem. As long as you are a bit tech savvy it’s no big deal to replace an SSD. Shipping was prompt and it was here in no time. The new SSD also came loaded with full version of Windows 10 Pro. It was just a matter of redoing the Windows startup and I was back in business. This was awesome service and I’m very pleased with this company. On another note the processor in this computer is not compatible with Windows 11. Go figure, but then I guess you can’t expect much from an older computer that’s been refurbished. Still a good price for a great little PC until 2025. Thanks a lot windows!

    ZERO STARS

Does not include operating system as the post claims. No COA from windows 10 at all. Do not purchase from this supplier, too many shortcuts are taken.

Support options throw you at HP. I will be calling HP on Monday to verify that this refurbisher is certified by HP and file a complaint if they are.

    ## Update 10/8/2020 ##
Had about 3 months now, no major issues noticed yet. Added a couple of pictures of front and back for those wanting to see size and port layout.

I’m running a variant of Linux on it, I use about 8-12 hours a day, so it’s not on 24/7, but shutting computer on/off is usually harder on PCs from what I’ve read, so it’s held up pretty good so far. I occasionally boot into Windows 10 partition to do updates, everything works in there, USB etc.

My only complaint is the fan, it’s pretty low around 35db for normal work load according to measurement from phone at about 5 inches away sitting on table with microphone pointed towards it. Sitting directly on the PC is about 40db, and about 45db with microphone pressed up to the front of it. It does have that occasional slow moving noise, if your room is super quiet it may or may not annoy you, I might look into trying to replace it. It’s kind of hard to capture on video, so it’s pretty low, but just to be aware if your room is quiet.

    ## Original 7/17/20 Review ##
So far this has been pretty good deal, I’ve only had it for a day, so can’t really speak to longevity yet or support. This is the mini PC as shown in picture, not the SFF tower as some users have reported on other listings. I’ve included some screenshots of performance numbers and specs. I received the 65W processor instead of advertised 35W one, but no performance differences as far as I can tell. It’s pretty fast booting up, about 4 seconds into Windows. Windows 10 was professional version and was ready to begin setup, there’s about 192GB usable space on SSD. SSD appears to be in good condition according to CrystalDiskInfo. Windows updates took me about 15-30 minutes (including reboots) on 15Mbps connection, so there wasn’t too many of them.

I took screenshot of CPU HWMonitor so you could see max CPU temperatures (about 74C) after PerformanceTest CPU benchmark. The fan is pretty quiet when it’s not under load, i.e. just browsing the web, though you can hear it a little if your room is super quiet, it’s not super loud under full load, my Y740 laptop is much louder. The power adapter is about 100-105F during normal use, the case was about 101F on back right (guessing where CPU sits), or about 90F during normal use, with the other areas being about 80-85F. The CPU itself is about 45-50C normal load (YT video playing Chrome)

Both Ethernet and WiFi work, the WiFi is a USB adapter, so it will take up a slot (there’s 6 total) and another slot for the Bluetooth adapter. There is an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter as mentioned below, as it comes with 2 DisplayPort and 1 VGA. You have to use the VGA port to get into the BIOS (F10), as it doesn’t recognize DP from BIOS, only in Windows/Linux as far as I can tell. By default it’s set to boot from USB, so I was able to test Linux distro from it ok without modifying settings in BIOS, though its pretty customizable which is nice.

Resolution is 2560×1440 in Windows. I haven’t noticed any severe lag when browsing web pages. It has a built in speaker, though it’s pretty low end (as expected). It seems like DP has sound (Intel C49RG9x, included screenshot, didn’t test), the normal sound card is RealTek, 1 Mic and 1 headset port on front, 1 audio out on back, normal 3.5mm audio ports. Pushing the jack in all the way using headphones produced a more muted sound, but pulling out slightly fixed it, only bad thing I’ve seen. The sound is decent, nothing great as expected for RealTek around this period.

    Specs:
    Intel i5-4590S (65W)
    8 GB DDR 3 (4GB each slot)
    ADATA SU630 240GB SSD (223GB available, 192GB free)
    Intel HD Graphics 4600
    Intel Ethernet I217-LM
    USB Adapter – RealTek RTL8188CU 802.11.n
    Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit

    Box came with the following:
    HP 800 G1 Mini PC
    1 full size USB keyboard
1 USB optical mouse with scroll wheel
1 Display Port to HDMI Adapter
    1 USB Bluetooth Adapter
    1 USB 802.11n Network Adapter (RealTek RTL8188CU)
    1 65W Power Adapter

This PC was shipped by MicroDeal USA, Harry reached out before I received it and left his contact info for any issues. Only took a day to receive which was nice.

I need a refund. USB stopped working 2 days ago and now it will not even power on. Amazon says the return window closed 5 days ago. I am a fast track college student and cannot be without a computer! Very disappointed with this purchase and amazon for not honoring a purchase. This is an expensive paperweight.

We purchased the tower as a certified renewed item. The computer kept shutting off due to a kernel power failure. We went ahead and ordered a second power supply since they are external and that did not fix the issue.

We have requested a refund and the seller has not replied. Amazon denied the return request. Will not purchase again and DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Mine didn’t come with any keyboard or mouse as shown in the pictures, but I’m not making any fuss over it. I ordered this one and an i3 version from the same vendor a day later, and the second one came today with the mouse and keyboard (new/unopened even!). I’d have purchased either or both of them without a keyboard and mouse if it had been an option, since I have a couple extras laying around anyway. (Why add more clutter if you’re downsizing computers to make more space anyway? LOL)

The system is as expected, the Windows was ready to use after a few updates. Then I pulled that drive and replaced it with an SSD with Linux Mint 18 or 19 already installed on it. It came up running first time, no changes needed. I didn’t move the little mounts from the original SSD over to the Mint SSD. The compartment for the drive has mesh pieces on the side that keep it pretty firm in there, and there’s no room for it to slide around much anyway, so I’ll probably just leave the mounts on the original drive and swap drives in and out as needed without the hassle of moving the mounts around.

System is quick and tiny, which was my main reason for purchasing — clearing out midsized towers with 95w processors in them, replacing them with faster computers that take up 1/6 of the space and run cooler with 35w processors.

Interestingly, the system happens to have USB booting before the internal drive in the boot order. I had my old SSD on the USB port to get files off, and the next reboot sent me right into my old desktop, running from the SSD over USB! That’s good, because I’m using a Displayport to HDMI adapter to get a picture, and I don’t see anything happen before the desktop appears. (UPDATE: Got a proper 4K adapter cable, and now I see the bootup screens. A 1080p cable wasn’t enough for my QHD resolution monitor.)

I think these 600 G1 and 800 G1 tiny systems are the best bang for the buck today, if you’re looking to replace older hotter behemoth computers with tiny little nice newer ones. I’m not a big fan of HP systems when it comes to the BIOS, but these get good reviews, so I’ll give them a shot at being my daily drivers.

This product is excellent value for the money. You could not build anything close to this machine’s performance without spending some $600-800. The computer is as best as I can determine new, or essentially new. It arrived in a well packaged cardboard box. Included was a USB wired keyboard and mouse, a display port to HDMI adapter and a WIFI dongle. It would have been nice been nice to get a wireless keyboard and mouse, but at this price give the sellers a break. There are two display ports at the back as well as VGA, there is thus no problem with multiple displays. There are two USB 3.0-3.1? on the front and four more at the back as well as a jack for connecting speakers. On the front there are two jacks for microphone input and headphones. I inspected the internals of the units closely after adding some extra RAM I had lying around, it is solidly built. Windows 10 is installed and ready to go, so to speak … This computer, as others, runs particularly well with a Linux distribution. For example, with only 8GB of RAM video editing works very well. The sellers are to be commended for providing an excellent product at an unbeatable price.

I opened it up and it looked like it had been on a shelf for years. You could not see the fan properly or the ports they were so disgusting with dust and lint.
