This Rice Cooker has been great for us. We only hand wash the parts, as they seem to wear out easily. Unfortunately, the Condensation Collector plastic broke last night when removing from the rice cooker. This is the second rice cooker we have had that this has happened with, which is why we bought the new one (as our old Cooks rice cooker was over 5 years old when it happened). We have used this rice cooker less than 10 times since purchase, and only hand wash the Condensation Collector. It seems as if this plastic is designed to fail. I looked on the Hamilton Beach website, and could not find this part (imagine that). Overall, this cooker does what it is intended to do. Unfortunately, I can’t use it now without spilling fluid all over my counter, because what seems to be “by-design”, the condensation collector plastic is weak and broke.
***UPDATE***
After 2 full business weeks, I still have not received a reply from Hamilton Beach on Amazon or via their customer service ticket submission.

Overall the pot cooks rice and thats what we got it for. I was replacing a larger pot from Hamilton beach that had power cord damage after about 8 years of use. This one is smaller than my previous model and there are pro’s and con’s to both. On this one I like the timer, lets me know approximate time, but I find the lights are to see which setting are on. In the afternoon our Kitchen is bright and I have to put my hands over the panel and get my face down. For this I knocked a star off.

Purchased this nearly 3 years ago. I use it 2/3 times week (one person)… Still works just as it did when I first got it. Nonstick pot will peel if you’re not careful. Metal frame also dents if you bump it into things. Compared to cheaper alternatives, this is worth it. Broke a few cheaper ones before getting this one which comes with a 5 year warranty. Cleaning the insides is a bit of work, but I usually only clean every possible spot every month or so.

Al ser principiante en mi cocina esta ha sido una excelente compra, mientras preparo el platillo principal se prepara en automático el arroz. Me encantó

I love this rice cooker. Its simple and it cooks well.
Now when you are ordering it you will see that it says with “steam basket” for $42.69 or “No steam basket” for $35.99. They both have steam baskets. The only difference is that the $42.69 cooker the basket is also used to rinse rice. The $35.99 basket can not be used to rinse rice, the holes on the basket is about the size of a dime. Picture provided.
Did I say I really love this rice cooker!

Adoro está olla. Desde que la recibí la he usado al menos 1 vez por semana. La programo y me olvidó de cuidar la estufa.

I have loved this little machine. It was easy to use, you can do a lot of things with it apart from cooking rice. The different settings are also really useful. Unfortunately, after only 4 uses (in about 3 months), it just simply stopped working. Nothing happened in between. One day, I wanted some rice and when I plugged it in, nothing happened. I’ve retried a few times so far in hope it would magically work again as it stopped, but nothing … I will try their guarantee policy to see if they can do something, because otherwise, this was really perfect.
Will keep you updated concerning their customer services.

This is a device I chose after checking out both SeriousEats and Wirecutters recommendations for a rice cooker: it’s not going to function like a high end Zojirushi or Cuckoo, but you’re also talking about something that is anywhere from half to a quarter of the price of those models.
First and foremost I will say that I’ve never tried to cook anything other than rice in this: I got it specifically to be a rice cooker, so it’s all I’ve used it for. I trust that its oatmeal setting is serviceable, but I don’t really eat oatmeal with any regularity. When it comes to rice, it’s pretty solid – not absolutely great, but pretty solid. Rice presets are just to choose between White, Quick, or Whole Grain which is a bit of a wide brush to paint with, but I haven’t had any major issues with it having issues cooking Basmati, Jasmin, or any other variety of rice I’ve thrown at it. Rice is pretty quick to make: its usually about 45 minutes for me when I’m making a cup of rice and being pretty lazy about checking how much water I’m adding, but I see many reviews talking ~30 minute times via the quick cook feature, so you could probably pair that down.
On the negative side of things: I find the rice that is on the bottom of the cooker has a bit of a tendency to be a touch scorched or well cooked. Not enough to be bad, but rice at the bottom is definitely different from the rest of it. Its accessories are just kind of downright silly: the rice washing tray is inferior to just using a mesh strainer, its paddle is flimsy and cheap, and its rice measuring cup isn’t a true measure. They’re convenient if you lack any of them and allow for everything to be an ‘all in one’ unit, but you’re better off using your own equipment if you have it.
But remember folk: Wash your rice. I don’t know why its so uncommon for folk here in the West to do this. You’ll get better results.

Simple and effective rice cooker with a lid that doesn’t rattle during cooking – an improvement over my old one. The lid does have a ‘splash shield’ that needs to be removed for cleaning that wasn’t immediately apparent at first, if you don’t remove it you could trap moisture between the shield and the lid. Regardless, it makes very good rice in a reasonable amount of time.

PUEDO PREPARAR ARROZ PARA MI FAMILIA DE UNA FORMA SALUDABLE YA QUE NO ES NECESARIO ADICIONAR GRASA, ADEMÁS DE QUE ME OLVIDO DE LA OLLA MIENTRAS COCINA Y OBTENGO RESULTADOS GENIALES CADA VEZ!!!

It’s a good price but way slower than the cheaper, one button cooker I had before. I used to be able to do rice in 20-30 mins, this is minimum 45min-hour so plan well! The quick cook setting is not really any faster and the timer on the front is aspirational at best. My only other nitpick is that goo tends to sputter out of the lid vent on top which you have to clean by hand. Other than that, it’s alright.

I’ve only used this rice cooker once so far, but it resulted in an almost perfectly cooked batch of basmati rice. There was a little bit of a very thin crispy layer on the bottom, but it wasn’t browned or burnt at all, just crisp (my husband actually loved that part, so it works for me). I’m excited to play with all of the settings and try out different functions, besides the ‘white rice’ function. The inner pot is SO easy to clean, I wish all of my pans had that kind of nonstick lining!
It is worth noting, that the ‘cups’ they have listed for capacity (2-14) as well as the markings on the pot itself for water (if you add 2 cups of rice, add water to the ‘2’ line) are *NOT* a traditional 1 cup measurement, they are their little measuring cup that is included with the pot. I checked mine, and the little included cup is the same size as a Tupperware 3/4 cup measuring cup. So if you’re using a standard measuring cup, measure your own water, don’t use the lines on the pot.

I love this rice cooker. I bought it as a student in need of one, and I don’t’ regret it. It’s very very versatile – I make oatmeal in it very often, and the steamer basket that it comes with is super useful. It has a multitude of functions, my favourites being the delayed start time (very important for setting my oatmeal to be ready for me to grab it and run out of the house) and the keep warm that automatically turns on.
I also find that, unlike many rice cookers, it doesn’t overflow when making oatmeal (so long as you make less than half the cooker full). Oatmeal runs over very quickly so having a rice cooker that can make it without overflowing every time and leaving a sticky mess in the morning is excellent.
