Got here within two days – it looks nice. Have no idea how well it works because it came incomplete – without mixing paddles. So now it is just an expensive paperweight. And Amazon will not accept return of these items. I blame Hamilton Beach for not sending a complete product, and Amazon for not backing their sales. Not a satisfied customer.

    Pros:
Tried the light rye bread recipe (2 lb) and it works very well.
The instructions are very clear and very easy to follow.
Significantly reduces effort involved in homemade bread-making (as compared to using an oven plus blender or hands)

    Cons
White bread recipe (1.5 and 2 lb) recipes were ok. Turned out a bit doughy.
Need to use anti-skid patches to prevent machine from sliding on counter.
Paddle gets stuck in the loaf every time.

At the first month I rated it to 5 stars. But now I’m changing my rating down to 1 star. After 3 month of moderate use the paddle has scratched off all non-stick coating on itself and around the spindle (shiny ring on the photo).

I have had two previous bread machines, but this is the first one that required adjustment to the recipes to
allow for the higher absorption aspect of Canadian flour vs. American flour. I only discovered this notation in the manual after my first attempt was a failure. I’m sure most customers don’t read the entire manual first off – expecting the machine to perform well from the start. Because of the failure I was questioning everything from the yeast to the type of flour. This needs to be more clearly noted in the instructions for use.

If you buy this, assume it comes with NO WARRANTY.

When the bread maker is working, it’s fine… easy to use and makes nice bread and dough for pizza or whatever. When it breaks, well that’s it, go buy a new one because even if you’re well within the advertised 5 year warranty period, good luck getting any kind of response from Hamilton Beach.

I purchased my bread maker on November 9th, 2017. Unit stopped operating on May 18th, 2020… well within the warranty period. I contacted Hamilton Beach customer service on May 20th to initiate a warranty claim. It is now October 22nd, 2020 and I still do not have a bread maker. Their phone line is shut down, have to wait weeks between email replies, no repair options, no replacement units available, then when units do become available they increase their price and now want to charge the difference between the new price and the original price I paid (which I oblige with the hope of finally getting this resolved) but then whoops… during fulfillment it seems the units are no longer available… again! Nothing but endless run-around for 5 months! This is by far the most ridiculous and inept customer service department I have ever been unfortunate enough to get involved with. Needless to say I will NOT ever buy a Hamilton Beach product ever again.

Buyer beware. You have been warned.

Let me preface this review with the information that:
    1) I have been baking bread for about 70 years. . learned from my grandfather who was professional baker, both in the Tsarist Russia of the pre-World War I days; and, in the US after he emigrated in 1910. . .
    2) I have also had a bread machine for over 30 years. . .

I have had this Hamilton Beach machine for several weeks; and, have made more than half a dozen loaves of bread. All loaves have turned out as “promised” by the advertising. . .using recipes from the HB book that accompanied the machine. I have made both “express” baked loaves (58 minutes); and, “full -term” loaves (3 hr baking time). I have even “experimented” a bit. . .such as using Evaporated milk in place of the water + dry milk as indicated in the wheat bread recipe(p. 19)

For those who want a “quiet” machine. . .They will not be disappointed. For those who want “quick; easy; and convenient” you will also be happy. Best of all, your bread will be tasty and satisfying. And, for those you who want a product that lives up to expectations and promises of the manufacturer, you will also be satisfied!

PS. . .I PAID cash for my machine; and, did not receive any gifts or “encouragements” to say nice things about the product! [At the time (Oct 2017), I paid $37 for the machine]

I’ve been making homemade bread for more than a decade and have been known to scoff breadmakers. “Those are cheaters, for busy people or people who don’t know how to bake bread. I make real bread.” But being a full-time writer, entrepreneur and housewife has shrunk my time and I find myself baking bread less and less. So, after reading the reviews on this breadmaker and the unbelievable price, I bought it.

All I can say is WOW! Boy, was I ever wrong in my previous misconceptions. This breadmaker does everything I do but without the sore fingers. How easy is it? You add the ingredients, set the cycle, crust, weight and press the start button. Then you WALK AWAY! It does the rest. It’s amazing and has changed my life.

How does the bread taste? The crumb is superb, the crust is firm and the taste… oh man, the taste is better than I’ve ever eaten!

I’ve read reviews from people stating breadmakers don’t work and their bread doesn’t turn out. Here’s an important tip: follow the directions to the letter. Add the ingredients in this order:

    wet ingredients
    dry ingredients
    yeast

The recipes included are fabulous and have used three so far.

Excellent, durable machine and a must own!

This is my second bread maker of this model/brand. The first unit lasted about 5 years and between 800 to 1000 loafs of bread (not exaggerating either, we made about 5-6 loafs a week on average). We also use this for making dough for buns and what have you (cinnamon buns, monkey bread, dinner buns, ect). Our old machine still works but the bearing around the paddle shaft is just plain worn out (clunks when using it). When I looked into replacing the pan I found out it was about $45 plus shipping, so figured I mite as well buy a new one (keeping the old one encase there are problems with the new one, can always swap over the pan). A few things to note about using this, put in the wet ingredients first, then dry with the yeast being last or in order of the recipe in the book. Second, after starting the machine open the lid and make sure all the flour gets mixed in (it gets stuck in the corners) I use a plastic spoon to push it down so it all gets mixed. Last is put it in the middle of the counter as it does move around a bit when mixing. Also it does have a weird shape loaf and the bottom crust is usually a little chewy but I have found it is like this with most cheaper bread machines, if you don’t like it this way then use the dough cycle and when done put it in a bread pan, let it rise and bake in the oven.

I have been without a bread maker for over a year, since my last one jumped off the counter while mixing dough, not only was this one affordable but it’s been working great the bread comes out of it perfectly done, although if your doing a 2lb loaf I would recommend just mixing it as dough and baking in the oven as the loaf rises to high and than the very top doesn’t quite bake right, it’s still yummy just not enough room no matter how much you cut back the yeast, and pizza dough turns out perfect everytime!
