This is my third Garmin GPS, and the best one yet. I needed a device for my older car to provide me with hands free for my phone, voice command to complete that, and GPS for navigation. Well, this device is it:
    – Bluetooth connection to iPhone 6 is reliable and instant every time
    – Hands-free is as good as the visor attached ones
    – Voice command actually works and it is very useful to control the GPS and phone
    – Lifetime Maps
Buy it on sale (I paid 149.99) and it is hard to beat. Don’t expect traffic to make a huge difference, and if your cabin is really noisy the voice command might be hit and miss. But with the caveats mentioned, this is a solid device that I would recommend.

I am migrating from a TomTom so new to Garmin. Found great difficulty in loading Garmin Express, a prerequisite to registering the product. Having overcome that difficulty with the assistance of the Garmin e-mail support service (apparently my Internet Security Software (Norton 360) would not let Garmin Express down load) I found that the voice suite did not include English and the device only spoke to me in Danish and all the other available languages loaded on receipt of the Device were equally foreign. This necessitated a further exchange with the e-mail support service to determine how to download another Language set from the aforesaid Garmin Express. Once these challenges were overcome, the product seems first class although the Mapping is not so pretty as TomTom ( no Greenery details)

Ideal for travel in the UK and Europe with the added bonus of the USA. Good, clear screen with the audio so much better than previous generation nuvi satnavs. Easy to use but does feel a little out-dated when compared with so many other devices in every day life which are intuitive. Saving destinations as a favourite for example isn’t immediately straightforward. A bit of exploring menus and sub menus, however, soon sorts this out. My biggest beef is the lack of a case or bag to keep this together. Sat Navs are designed for travel and at this price a case would have been a quality touch. I have since bought a separate case which does the trick for a couple of quid, but that’s not the point!

In use, very accurate, effective and trustworthy. No complaints.

I bought this to replace a nuvi 750. It works OK. I very much like the speed indicator. The Bluetooth to my iPhone 3GS works just fine.
I am very disappointed with three areas:
    1. The zoom scale keeps resetting itself to whatever it likes. Not very safe when you have to change the scale after each and every turn.
    2. The time to complete a route or get to a destination is way off. A frequent trip which takes 1 hr and 45 mins starts out as being around three hours!
    3. I prepare most of my routes using BaseCamp. With my nuvi 750 I could join a route well after the beginning. It would recognize the route and complete it as programmed in BaseCamp. Not this baby! It recalculates and plans it to suit itself.
    Annoying Items.
    1. The screen; although large and bright fades considerably in bright sunlight.
    2. The user manual sucks!! Very stingy with information and they should supply a magnifying glass to read it after you print it out.
    July 2019 Update
After close to four weeks of working with Garmin tech support they finally admitted that It is a dud with regard to the Estimated Time of Arrival. They offered me a 20% discount on trading it in on newer models. Red reviews on the two recommended, both seem laced with problems. Cheaper from Anazon.

Overall it works ok. However, like several reviews have mentioned…the cable which comes with it…does not work. The cable which hooks into the car cigarette lighter works fine, but the cable to attach to your computer will not function. It means I cannot update the unit. After many reviews stating this flaw…I cannot believe the manufacturer does not FIX this problem. I have spent almost $60 trying to buy compatible cables (so stated on Amazon)…but none of them work either. Luckily the maps are pre-loaded…but as far as updates…you’re out of luck. This is my experience.

I bought this Garmin nuvi 2597LMT 5-Inch Bluetooth Portable to replaces my wife’s older Garmin unit. This 2597LMT has many easy to use features that we enjoy after we became familiar with them. We used this unit to find business addresses and it guided us to the selected address without difficulty. Most guide announcements played were clear and easy to understand. The information on screen is easy to read. Construction of the Garmin nuvi 2597LMT unit is durable and I received it in the mail on the date that the shipper promised. I recommend this Garmin nuvi 2597LMT 5-Inch Bluetooth Portable to anyone who wants an easy to use reliable unit.

I bought this Sat Nav to use when I went to Croatia on a fly drive holiday in May 2014. Though I have a early model Garmin it need a little get use to the new set up system. When the unit arrived, I have to down load the map from their web site, after the initial struggle it went well, the upload takes just over an hour.
When arrived in Croatia airport I struggle a little of understanding to input the address but eventually workout the layout out of their address system from than on it took me to wherever I want to go with absolutely no problem. One of the hotel I went to is a little country hotel in the middle of nowhere within a big national park, this sat nav guide me to the destination with easy. I use the sat nav to look for local restaurant and place of interest, it made travelling a joy and relaxing in this holiday.
I will be using it again in the fall in Canada and USA on another fly drive holiday, may be I can give another up date on its use but judging on this trip I am sure it will be a prefect companion for my next trip. No hesitation in recommending this Garmin to anyone who is interested in it.

I went round and round the reviews of the various Sat Nav models and brands before landing on this one. Not sure why the large amount of low ratings for this product, as it’s great. I needed a reliable Sat Nav when driving around the southern US states and this did the trick perfectly

What I especially liked is that not only can you search by street name and/or postcode, but it also has shops and restaurants listed so you can search for a restaurant by name even if you’ve no idea what the address is.

A particularly useful function is how the screen splits. Especially with such wide highways in the US – of say 5 lanes – when you’re approaching a complex turning/exit where the road might split three ways, the split-screen pops up and highlights the exact lane you should be in. Saves you from guessing or trying to dart across a few lanes of traffic at the last minute!

We have used this satnav in UK as well as, in US. However, it was not until we decided to use it for a road-trip in the US that we got full use of this satnav.

It is accurate to within a couple of feet. And regardless of whether we were driving in UK or US, it found satellite signal and accurately navigated for us.

It had a few funny turns a couple of times where there were roads on top of roads and it could not figure out which road we were on. However, other than that, whether we were driving on M8 or M1 in UK or I10 or I75 in US, it navigated accurately.

When we had to find a place to stay, again, the satnav was able to guide us to the nearest B&B. Same with restaurants, fuel pumps or places of interest.

Given that companies like Alamo charge USD 100 for renting out a satnav for 2 weeks, we have more than recovered the cost in just 2 trips to the states.

    I would definitely recommend.

On Garmin’s official web, this unit (2597LMT) includes the power cable (traffic antenna) 010‑11838‑00, which is TA20. The unit I had received included the power cable 320-00239-80, which is TA10. I believe that’s why I keep getting “The connected power cable is not compatible with traffic for this device.” popping on the screen. Where did it go wrong? I have had it for only 1 month and just did some testing drives on two different cars. Same thing happens all the time. Frustrating.

Used the Garvin Nuvi 2577Lt for the first time in Scotland. I was confused in that you do not have to select the country that you are using the device in prior to entering the destination and would prefer that this was the procedure on arrival at the country that you are using the device in. However having selected the address it will give you the option of the selected address in the various countries that this address is available in. Confusing yes much better had I been able to select Scotland as the desired operating location.
Having realised this I found using the machine simple but in some instances a bit slow in advising wxits from traffic circles.
