For all indoor sports, the watch records distances traveled based on its best guess, and you cannot adjust (calibrate as Garmin says) before the data is uploaded to the cloud, hence your Strava account will be full of completely inaccurate data. Certain types of indoor sports you cannot calibrate at all (swimming, biking), so your historical performance will be way off or not recorded.
Similar problems for outdoor sports. GPS is a mess. Hard to tell when it turns on, and often begins to record 10 minutes into your run or ride, again, leading to pretty inaccurate readings. Loads of features that are simply not accurate: pulse ox (blood oxygen), sleep time, REM cycles, stress, etc. These features would be great if they were accurate, alas, they are not. Good advice would be to turn these features off.
Lacking features, that should be included at this price point: no outdoor swimming feature, no Garmin connect, no maps in the navigation section. Also no way to record elevation gains while running or biking, so you cannot train based on how much uphill you want to hit in a workout, you will have to guess. Does not seem to update firmware over the air or by syncing with phone, you have to download special software to a laptop, and plug the watch in – it’s very 1996.
Note: have not tried the music feature yet. I have been informed that many users have a problem with the Bluetooth feature, and that the quality of this feature is very much lacking, especially in outdoor environments.
Other disappointments: Garmin customer service. Tons of threads of users trying to get the basic features to work on the Garmin website, and essentially no help from the company. Users are left to their own devices, and must fend for themselves or collaborate as a group.
Overall: nice piece of hardware, could be a great product if the features worked as advertised. Garmin has so many devices, it’s not surprising they aren’t able to make a perfect device. Apple has a much greater number of customers, and makes one SKU (on type of watch), Garmin makes dozens. This company is lost in over customization.

This is an excellent purpose-built running watch that I should have owned earlier ever since I started running and tracking it since 2011. It’s something that once you have you cannot unhave. I chose this over a general smartwatch like the Apple Watch because there are no user accounts to login to on the Forerunner and each activity gets saved as an actual file in the file system. You will never lose your activity. In an app in a smartwatch, however, if something causes a logout like a data outage, unsynchronized data has a chance of loss. For a runner, that would be infuriating.
I have been used to using voice prompts from RunKeeper with my phone during runs to know my session progress, so I thought that this was a must-have also for a watch. During my first run with this watch with voice prompts on, the screen was so clear in sunlight that voice prompts aren’t even necessary anymore. One quick glance and I have all my stats.
I did notice that sometimes it has trouble connecting Bluetooth to my Bose headphones. This is a minor annoyance that can be resolved with a reboot of the watch. I hope this is something that will be fixed in a firmware update. For that, I’m taking 1 star off.
The Garmin Connect app, while seemingly providing a lot of information, lacks key functionality that one might expect. You cannot manage offline music on the watch, i.e., audio files that were manually copied into it. You cannot manage metadata or playlists. You will need a computer for this. It also does not read from other popular apps like Apple Health to sync information like weight. It writes weight into other apps, but it doesn’t read from them. I use an app that came with my smart scale, which then relays the weight into Apple Health. It would be nice for Garmin Connect to read this information to make it whole.
One minor detail that I really dig is that most watch faces display seconds and have an optional UTC display alongside it. I love precision so this is just me.

Great hardware but useless software.
If you have an android, and want to use Spotify, it’s pointless buying the music version. It won’t even let you login, and after 5 hours troubleshooting this, it turns out this is a common issue.
It also took me 3 hours just to get Garmin coach to actually upload workout to the watch too.
Worth nothing I code for a living, so it’s not like I’m incompetent at figuring this stuff out.
The watch itself seems to be great in terms of what it can do, on paper, but I’ve literally spent 8 hours in 2 days trying to troubleshoot the software and any watch’s hardware could be absolutely astounding, but it’s entirely useless with this pathetic software.
I’m returning this junk. It’s far too expensive for the level of frustration involved with the amount of issues with the software.

O relógio chegou dentro do prazo previsto.

*Updated review: I’ve had watch 6 months now. The battery life is now only a few days before having to charge AND I have this glitch or aberration now that won’t go away. I’ve turned the watch on/off and it won’t go away. This spot just appeared this morning when I went to put it on… it was not there last night when I took it off.* Maybe I am not objective because I only ever owned the Forerunner 35 but this watch is great! I sync it with the LoseIt! app because I am not a fan of MyFitnessPal. This watch does everything it says and more. I’ve had it about a month now and couldn’t be happier with it!
