Update 5/19/21: On a couple of occasions I have experienced Garmin’s Live Traffic showing congested areas which have cleared-up before arriving to the traffic jam. In order to avoid an unnecessary re-routing I would suggest a “Trust, but verify” approach by also pulling-up the route on Google maps to see if the problem area still exists.
Update 2/10/21: Having used this GPS for over 50 thousand miles I continue to be impressed with its reliability and the usefulness of its features. The Live Traffic feature with the alternate routes it provides has saved me from substantial delays on multiple occasions. The video I uploaded is the most recent example of how I was able to make an on time delivery where I would have surely been late had it not been for the Live Traffic feature. Ironically, you can see an Amazon Truck stuck in the same traffic jam this GPS helped me to avoid.
After having a nightmare experience with an atlas maker’s GPS system on a route to an unfamiliar Rockaway, NJ from Stuart’s Draft, Virginia, I decided to return the other GPS and purchased this unit from Garmin. On a second run from the same point of origin to to the same destination, but this time with the Garmin Dezl OTR 700, what a huge difference! This unit’s route was longer in distance, but it didn’t take me through little streets in little towns, and I arrived at my destination with a lot less stress in a lot less time. I really appreciated this after the atlas maker’s GPS thought I was on another road and kept telling me to take the ramp to the road I was already on at a most crucial time when I was about 25 miles away from Rockaway, NJ. The atlas maker’s GPS then put me onto small town roads a good 20 miles from my destination and said to take a U-turn if possible. U-turns are a big “no no” when driving a truck at most carriers, and doing a U-turn at my carrier would get me fired. The preferred “Trucker Paths” feature of the Garmin is great and I also like how it can navigate you right to the trucking dock locations at many destinations. If you’re a professional trucker, buy your GPS from a GPS maker.

Big Scam——Bought this product seeing the pictures and descriptions in the pictures. Was told there’s magnetic cup holder. But when I received the product it’s just normal clip holder which are used in cheap 200$ gps. And definitely the software in it cheap AF. I see other reviews with entirely different product picture and different display.
Hope some soon take responsibility and correct this or I’m taking it to higher authorities soon.

Great truck gps. Bought as present for my truck driver friend. Works perfect and easy to use with cellphone app.

showed me an unpaved road as a truck route which was not even a road and was stuck there for 5 hours with no signal, if there was a SOS help signal on it will be the beat as we truckers sometimes have to hit the roads where there are no towers.

Description says that my OTR700 includes power magnetic mount as you guys can see in the attached screen shot. I only got the accessories in the picture. It was a quite disappointing box opening experience for me. That’s why I only gave 2 stars.

Garmin is the best of the best. I am professional truck driver and for me work’s perfect. You can setup everything, dangerous goods, oversized and much

Works well for the most part, but it has tried to send me down non-truck routes a couple of times.

The menus are not at all intuitive. The software is in serious need of updates/upgrades. The speaker is awful and the sound is fuzzy. You are stuck with the voices on the unit because, again, the updating software is broken Sure, the screen is huge, but the software is nowhere near ready for release.
I’ve been in contact with support since I bought it with one thing after another. They told me to return it, and when I did, the same problems surface. I have to say the support is decent, but I’ve never had to contact Garmin support before for any of the previous 2 Dezl units that I’ve bought.
There are some silly new “features” that are just reiterations of other functions of the GPS. Some of the features of the 780 that I relied upon are either gone or hidden inside impenetrable menus. It’s just too frustrating to use for something as seemingly simple as a GPS that is usually just plug in and drive.
The problems are nothing that can’t be fixed with a software overhaul, so I’m hoping for the best but as with any device, the software that comes with it is really the only thing you are entitled to. Unless or until they fix it, I would stick with earlier generations.
Update 9/22/21: The software is still awful. The meager upgrades are mostly language fixes of some sort. You still cannot change to any of the voices in the PC companion software. I’ve gone back to using my 780, even though I really do like the big screen on the OTR1000.
Why they chose to hide commonly used menus and options is beyond me. This machine is so expensive and so lousy that it frustrates me beyond belief when I think of what it could have been.

Im a trucker and this is my third garmin And it is definitely the best so far. By having time , arrival time, distance to stops ( etc ), at a glance and the smooth interface with my phone make trip planning a breeze.
Bring up google maps, find your destination on the map, switch to satellite view drop a pin at the customer’s driveway and send it to garmen.

Best trucker gps I have used yet. The garmin drive app is a cool idea but when searching for a place on this app it is lacking. Updating is much easier with wifi and not needing to connect with a computer. The magnetic connection is great feature and the three different ways to the install this gps in your truck will probably give the perfect place to mount this in your truck.

I’m not much of a reviewer. I’m just a truck driver.
Honestly if you are on the fence about buying this gps, don’t be. I watched a few YouTube videos on this one and Rand Mcnally newest unit.
I bought this Christmas time 2020. It works great. Easy to use. Screen size is a big bonus for me. Especially for people with older eyes. I’ve hit some pretty hard bumps and the magnet has yet to drop the GPS. It is very strong. It is on a Google platform. This thing has so many features I thought I would never use but I actually do from time to time.
I have a 579 Pete and I put it at the top middle of my window. See picture. So it also works great at blocking the sun. Lol I’ve been driving semis for 27 years. So I understand the roads. So use commonsense when driving don’t always depend on a GPS. So far it hasn’t put me somewhere I shouldn’t be. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GPS.

I buy it and I used in my truck in Estiven that divice gave me a wrong way and I stock in one introduction.
I think this GPS use old map and it doesn’t update.
I am really dispinted.

Very very happy with this GPS. I usually never leave reviews but I had to for this.. it’s very user friendly easy to use while driving to find parking, etc. The mount suctions well and hasn’t fallen off not yet even once.. seems to be accurate as well I compare routes to google and Apple Maps and the GPS is spot on. I can’t find one thing I don’t like about it I was debating on getting the bigger one but glad I didn’t the 7” works perfectly fine for me don’t see the point of spending the 100s of dollars for the bigger screens. The speaker could be a bit louder but I also drive a straight piped 379 but I still can hear it clearly. 10/10 would buy again and would recommend. It also warns you of upcoming traffic, weight stations, weight limits, etc. if you’re on the fence this is the one.
