I use it all the times for golfing. The one thing I noticed is that it always takes a while to load the satellites and because of that, I actually have to start the game ahead of time. I am not sure why it is slow, my husband also has a garmin and has no issue at all. The other thing is that it gets confused sometimes on the course with the hole layouts, something I had also experienced with my previous Garmin. Again, my husband doesn’t have these issues with his Fenix 6. Those two issues are particularly critical for a golfer and I was hoping that it was simply a matter of golf layout but it’s not. I still use it every time I golf, but this is a disappointment for me for the price of the watch.

After cocking up the first couple of holes still trying to work the watch, I realised I should have read the booklet (and watched the Youtube video of a guy setting it up) then I would have been ready. Now I know how to use it it gives accurate distance information at the touch of a button, and I am using the scoring reminder and club selection options to track my shots. Excellent product and great battery life when just used as a normal watch.

Haven’t tried it for golf yet but so far it works well as an activity/step tracker. It was on sale $339.00 and I think it’s worth it. Wouldn’t have paid full price for it though. It was easy to start using it. Without playing golf the battery lasts more than a week.

Ok so as a golf watch its great. Disappointed that it will not make it through 2 rounds in a day though. Little annoyed on a recent golf trip. I feel for the money the screen could be a little brighter and the animations and graphics could be much more clean and clear. It does look sharp but really feel it’s over priced. I had the approach S20 before and wanted something that looked more professional at work and had some more features on the course. My last small complaint is the steps counter is way off. For having GPS it should more accurate. When walking while pushing my kids in the stroller it dodnt register any steps because my arm wasnt going back and forth. In the end..its just ok. Loo forward to something better down the road. Hopefully Garmin will give me a good deal if I send this back to them

Ich habe mit der Uhr jetzt 2 Wochen verbracht und sowohl 2 Runden gespielt als auch ein paar Tage als Alltagsuhr getragen.
Im Prinzip gefällt mir die Uhr beim Golf spielen ganz gut:
– die Uhr funktioniert vollkommen unabhängig vom Telefon (bei der Apple Watch ist das ja leider nicht so und ich habe bspw. bei der App Hole 19 dauernd Problem gehabt mit Eingaben von der Uhr, die verloren gingen).
– die Eingabe der Schläge auf der Uhr funktioniert gut und schnell.
– die Anzeige der Distanzen (inkl. Höhendifferenz und “gefühlter” Spiellänge) ist prima.
– die Fahne zu verschieben auf dem Grün ist auch gut.
Nachteile sind meiner Meinung nach:
– Laden der Bahn beim reinzoomen dauert zu lange (jedesmal wieder, nicht nur beim 1. Mal)
– den Laser ersetzt die Uhr leider nicht. Meistens kommt das ganz gut hin mit der Distanz, wenn man die Fahne richtig platziert hat. Des öfteren ist aber zumindest unser Platz nicht ganz Präzise kartographiert und es gibt recht große Differenzen (das fällt auch bspw. in der Platzübersicht auf, da man tlw. knapp neben dem Fairway liegt, aber laut App mitten in den Bäumen).
– die Autoshot Funktion und damit die Schläger-Distanz Statistik ist leider nicht zu gebrauchen: Bei meiner zweiten Runde Stand bei einem Schlag schon 40 m bevor ich überhaupt am Ball angekommen war für die Uhr die Distanz “fest”. Garmin sagt, die Uhr erkennt keine Chips und Putts. Das bedeutet aber auch, dass jeder Schlag ins Grün NICHT gemessen werden kann. Angezeigt werden aber dennoch Distanzen und ich versuche noch herauszufinden, woran die Uhr diese festmacht. Wenn man sich die Bahnen in der Garmin Golf App anschaut sieht man leider, dass die Schlagverläufe manchmal ganz gut passen, manchmal aber auch einfach komplett daneben sind (bspw. Distanz für 4er Eisen entspricht der Summe von Eisenschlag, Chip und Putt).
– Bluetooth Verbindung zum Handy/ GarminConnect ist nicht stabil (d.h. SMS Benachrichtigungen kommen dann bspw. auch nicht mehr an)
Zusammengefasst behalte ich die Uhr nur, weil sie als Komplett-Paket für mich gut ist. Aktivitäten wie Joggen, Radfahren oder ähnliches kann die Uhr auch und in Verbindung mit einem extra Puls-Gurt ist das für mich eine gute Kombination.
Als REINE Golf-Uhr ist sie jedoch zu teuer. Die Schläge mitzählen und Distanzen anzeigen können viel günstigere Uhren auch.

Männlich, 43 Jahre, Golf-Anfänger, ansonsten sportlich quasi inaktiv. Und scheinbar nicht in der Lage, Entfernungen richtig einzuschätzen. Dazu kommt, dass der gemeine Anfänger natürlich auch des Öfteren wie ein Hase im Zick-Zack über den Platz hoppelt. Kurzum: ich wollte und musste die benötigten Entfernungen genau wissen. Mir reichte es nicht nur zu wissen, wie weit es zum Grün ist, sondern natürlich auch, wo der Bunker ist, wann das Wasser anfängt, wie ich mich wieder zurück auf den Fairway rette. Klar hätte man das Ganze auch mit einem Laser lösen können, aber wenn schon ein technisches Gimmik, dann schon eins, mit dem ich auch nachträglich mein Spiel etwas analysieren kann.
Einfache Golfuhren können diese Analyse nicht leisten, daher sollte es auch ein etwas höherwertiges Modell sein.
Letztendlich bin ich dann bei der S60 gelandet.
Die Uhr sieht einigermaßen schick und sportlich aus, jedenfalls trägt sie sich sehr angenehm. Sie ist für die Größe sehr leicht und das Silikonarmband gefällt mir so ganz gut; es muss kein Leder sein.
Das Display ist beleuchtet, was aber nur bei Dunkelheit wichtig ist. Ansonsten ist die Uhr auch bei direkter Sonneneinstrahlung hervorragend ablesbar.
Der Akku ist ebenfalls hervorragend. Ohne eingeschaltete GPS-Funktion hält die Uhr mehrere Tage, bevor sie wieder an den Strom muss. Während einer vollen Golfrunde ist bei mir der Akku von knapp 100% auf 30% gefallen, also noch genug Reserve für min. einen vollen Tag “normale” Nutzung..
Außer den Funktionen für Golf, Radfahren, Schwimmen etc. verbindet sich die Uhr immer mit dem Smartphone und zeigt so die Nachrichten von Facebook, Whatsapp, etc an. So muss das sein! Einfach und schnell.
Die gesamte Bedienung ist ziemlich einfach und klappt definitiv auch ohne Anleitung.
Bis hierhin also volle Zufriedenheit; jetzt aber die Sachen, die mich etwas stören:
Beim Golfspiel kann man direkt in den Platz reinzoomen und manuell einen Zielpunkt angeben. Das ist auf dem Display natürlich etwas hakelig und sehr klein. Mit normalen Männerfingern ist das auf Anhieb kaum zu schaffen und mal klickt mehre Male herum, bis man den Punkt gefunden hat. Auch das Verschieben der Fahne am Grün läuft ähnlich fummelig.
Die Schlagstatistik bzw. Schlagerkennung und Eingabe des Scores lässt zu wünschen übrig. Saubere Schläge werden natürlich gut erkannt, und nach jedem Schlag muss man den genutzten Schläger der Uhr per Klick mitteilen. Wenn die Uhr dann den nächsten Schlag erkennt, wird die Distanz bis dorthin abgespeichert und man erhält die exakte Länge jedes Schlages; wie gesagt: so lange auch alle Schläge erkannt werden. Und das ist das Problem! Kurze Rettungsschläge aus tiefstem Rough, ein kleiner Chip auf’s Grün… werden nicht erkannt, können auch nicht sofort über die Uhr hinzugefügt werden. Gerade letzteres ist sehr ärgerlich, da es immer eine umfangreiche Nachbearbeitung mit sich bringt. Schlägt man z.B. ein Eisen über das Grün drüber, also zu lang, und wandert dann zum Ball, wird die Schlageingabe automatisch ausgeschaltet, sobald man das Grün erreicht. Dann kann man nur noch seine Putts manuell eingeben.
Da mich wie eingangs gesagt die sonstigen Funktionen nicht interessieren, bleibt als Fazit bestehen: als reine Golfuhr verbesserungswürdig und dafür etwas zu teuer. Daher leider nur drei Sterne.

Major complaints:
1. The “shot tracking” feature works very poorly, tracking only 60 percent of my shots over 7 rounds played. Does not track many chips or any putts.
2. The “plays at” feature that is supposed to adjust your distance for elevation, does not seem to work at all on my watch.
3. Once a scorecard is entered through Garmin Connect, there is no simple way to edit it. If I fail to post a school for a hole, there is no way in which you can put this in afterwards. The Garmin online forums have many complaints about this over several years but it does not look as though Garmin has fixed the problem.

Very stylish. I wear my Garmin S60 all the time, all year round. I did buy another watch band (metal) to dress it up more for work and I also purchased two more charging cables to leave in my car and on my work station.
The battery life all depends on what you have set up. Notifications, step counter, etc.
Standard stuff my watch can last a week between charges.
Golfing one round of 18 holes taking 4 – 5 hours. (Toronto golf) The Watch uses up just shy of 50%.
The watch is touch screen and in colour. I love that it shows you the Hole Layout. Especially on courses you have never played.
The Garmin App downloads easily to capture every round. Tracking your distances with clubs used. Your greens in regulation, number of putts, longest drive, etc.
40,000 Golf Courses and never not found the one I’m playing. So, so simple.
Terrific watch I’d highly recommend. A great gift for any avid golfer.
Recommend buying at least one charging cable. Usually if the watch is low, I can plug it in the car and the drive to the course is enough to charge it for the round.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriends birthday and he uses it every time he golfs. He says its the best and ‘really helps his game’. The watch syncs to the course you’re playing and you can keep track of your strokes and other cute golfing tips. It makes him happy so it makes me happy. That’s what matters right?

Watch on golf course good, however satellite seemed to disappear for a while. Otherwise good. Software on scoring for PC needs a lot of refinement as impossible to edit scores after syncing.

I upgraded from the Garmin S6 golf watch, even though I was quite satisfied with it. I was basically hoping to get better visibility in bright sunlight and something generally easier to read, since my eyesight seems to be getting poorer by the minute lol.
Garmin S60:
I bought the regular S60 and was blown away by how much better it was than the s6!! SO MUCH clearer to read. Much easier navigation. Better features. Better looks. Better battery life, even though from the literature it should be similar. When golfing, it was so easy to use. I love having the bigger, brighter maps, and the easier to use touchscreen. Recording exact clubs used and exact distances with shot detection is awesome. I created a club called “exit trees” that I assign to all my bad shots, so that I get more accurate distance averages for my regular shots on all clubs. As far as distances go, I’m not sure it’s as accurate as it should be. I am well versed in what to expect from GPS device inaccuracies, but so far the S60 seems further off than normal… but the jury is still out on that one and it has not been a show-stopper.
Anyway, my old golf watch was just that… a watch I wore when golfing. The S60 is so good looking I began wearing it at all times. So good, in fact, that I decided to upgrade to the premium version and splurge the extra $150 or so. Helping my decision to upgrade was the fact that I had experienced a few “wonky” incidents with my S60 in which it had lost its charge in just a few hours… much faster than even in golf mode. I didn’t think much of it at the time.
Premium S60 #1:
I upgraded to the Premium S60 and was immediately glad that I did. It might not seem like much, but the ceramic watch face just looks that much more sophisticated and high end, as does the leather watch band. Loved it. Still love it! Only one problem cropped up during my first weeks of use. One feature did not work. The “plays like” elevation distances would not display. Everything else with the watch was fine. After about an hour on the phone with Garmin support, who were fantastic to deal with, it was decided that the watch had a glitch and that they would ship a replacement.
Premium S60 #2:
S60 #2 gave me the same thrill opening it, lol. Beautiful watch. Setup went smoothly. First thing I checked was the “plays like” distance feature. No problems. Phew! All good, right? Wrong. After a few days of using the watch I realized that I was not getting phone/sms/notifications. I figured that I had missed something during setup. After several attempts to fix/reinstall/re-pair etc etc and combing over the user manual I am finally waving the white flag again. Tomorrow I will be contacting Garmin support again, but I fear that I have another defective watch.
Bottom line? This watch would be hands down five stars. Five big, fat, well earned stars…. if it would just work properly! Seriously. After I speak with support tomorrow, I will probably be getting my 4th S60 because I want it to work so badly. Should it really take four attempts, though?
