I had and x-t20 and upgraded, camera is just great, bigger body is not a problem as the grip is heftier. With the IBIS I can take stills down to half a second in low light.

Probably the closest thing to the perfect hybrid camera. The X-T4 is the best camera for those who like me take photography and videography seriously. It is an amazing little package, the video is amazing, the photos are amazing as well, the system includes all the lenses you need.

The Stills/Movie dial is genius, it cleans up the menus and makes everything much easier to setup quickly. The ergonomics are improved from the X-T3, the battery life is doubled, the new shutter is quieter and rated for 300,000 actuations. The IBIS is fantastic as well.

To be honest, the autofocus is great and works very well, but it’s not near Sony or Canon, but Fuji is always working on it and it will keep improving it. I’d give it a solid distant third place in performance behind Canon as of right now.

If you’re going to use this camera mainly for video, only a few lenses work as expected and pull focus smoothly, accurately and with minimum focus breathing according to Fuji, the 18-55 F2.8-4, (which is my main video lens) the 50-140 F2.8 and 10-24 F4.0. So keep that in mind when choosing lenses.

If you’re using this camera for stills, this camera is the best APS-C camera on the market and it gives some more expensive full-frame cameras a run for their money. The way the lenses render color, sharpness and contrast is fantastic. Any XF lens, even the “kit” lens is a fantastic piece of kit, so select your lenses freely because all of them are fantastic.

I always liked the design of the Fuji cameras. Reminds me of the Nikon F body, or Leica M. Not the most comfortable thing to hold, but I still like them.

You ended up buying the X-T4 probably after reading/watching many positive reviews, or you want a retro-looking camera to stand out. Here are some things you may NOT know:

    1. You can’t use Lightroom. The pixel arrangement on the sensor made it difficult for Lr to sharpen the image, and you may need to switch to Capture One. It may not be an issue for you, but I have been using Lr since day one, and switching to Capture One only means additional cost and a learning curve. Sure, you can sharpen the image in PS, but PS isn’t free. Again, not everyone is ready to pay for the whole Adobe Creative CC to use this camera.
    2. Autofocus is great when your object is stationary. I have no problem with AF against almost anything until I was taking photos of my dog. I took more than 500 shots on a sunny day while my dog playing in the park, but only 37 photos turned out in focus. This performance is worse than my Canon 20D which only has 9 focus points. I tried with AF-C/AF-S, tracking, zone, single-point, custom tracking profile, and custom tracking profile give me the best results of them all. However, less than 10% in-focus rate concerns me. Eventually, Fuji *may* come up with an FW update to improve the AF, but I want it now.
    3. 16-80 F4, strong vignetting at F4 on the 80mm end. Shooting JPG will get the in-camera correction, not 100% but better than what you see in RAW.
    4. Lens choice – Technically, you want X-T4 with 10-18mm F4, 56mm F1.2, 90mm F2, 70-140mm F2.8, 18-55mm F2.8, but in reality, you get 50mm F2, 16-80mm F4, 70-300mm F4-5.6 due to the cost. Most of Fuji’s consumer/prosumer lenses are not as nice as other brands optically and costs similar. IMO, Fuji leaves lots to be desired from their current lens lineup.
    5. Camera may not satisfy you if you are expecting a solid body. The shutter button is a little loose, so that the half-press focus may feel a bit uncertain due to the lack of feedback. The thumbwheel feels very plasticky, as well as the dials.

I like the colour rendition when shooting JPG (Neg Pro), and you can further tune the results using Fuji Film Profiles in Capture One (under camera curve).

IBIS is pretty good that I can get clean shots even at 1/7s on the 80mm end. Set Auto ISO range to 800 or 1600 and relying on IBIS for shooting in low light, much better than boosting the ISO, IMO.

However, due to the AF performance reason alone, I returned mine. X-T4 can be a keeper if this is a secondary system or I’m only shooting landscape. But if this is the only system you have and you are hoping to cover all types of photography, this camera may not be what you are looking for.

Was a Nikon person and now own 15 Fujis and lots of lenses including the medium format camera and lenses.
On my last trip to Africa I used the H1 because of the stabilization but used the XT-3 for most other situations.
The XT-4 will be perfect for all my normal photos as I travel around the world six months of the year.
Just pick up any Fuji, not plastic, like a Leica , a pleasure to hold and use. Lenses are superb so I have a closet filled with Nikons I never use.
I love you can change most everything form the dials not like Sony.
    Just the best, love them!

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA IF YOU PLAN ON NEEDING WEATHER SEALING!!

Despite being weatherproof and being able to “shoot in extreme conditions” it broke after about an hour of drizzle

It should be illegal to advertise like this.

I’d save your money and get the X-T30

    TLDR:
Nearly perfect for me, mainly use it for video and it outperformed my expectations. It even got me more into photography and have been thoroughly enjoying the film simulations (Eterna/Eterna BB or Classic Neg are my favourites). If Fuji can bump the autofocus performance to Sony EYE-AF levels with updates (They have so far improved it since launch) I think this is will best APS-C mirrorless in all categories period. Nearly perfect for me, just wish it could do 4k@90p or maybe allow for 6k@24p as it does down-sample to 6k to 4k.

I used to own a Canon t5i, then an Olympus OMD E-M10 Mk3, then a Panasonic G85 and they were all decent cameras in their own way, they each had their issues for a VIDEO CENTRIC buyer.

    Canon t5i:
    Older
    DSLR
    only 1080@30p

    Olympus E-M10 Mk3:
    GREAT stabilization
    4k@30p
    No microphone input
The 4k video was behind a menu you had to navigate EVERYTIME you wanted to shoot 4k video. Super annoying.

    Panasonic G85:
    Decent stabilization
4k@30p (slight crop in 4k, so more than the m4/3 2x)
    Weather sealed with microphone jack

So where does the Fujifilm XT4 sit?
Decent stabilization (Bigger sensor so harder to do)
    4k@60p 10-BIT 4:2:0 (4:2:2 externally)!
DCI 4k as well (slight crop to 4k@60, which doesn’t bother me) also 1080@240p!
The 4k is actually 6k down-sampled to 4k so you get insanely high quality 4k out of such a small body
VERY MINIMAL rolling shutter WAY better than any Sony mirrorless by miles
    Weather sealed
dual SD card slot (which you can assign one for still and one for video, or for redundancy AWESOME!)
Much better ergonomics compared to Sony a6xxx series
    Excellent battery life
Very in depth menus (a little daunting but A LOT OF CONTROL when mastered)

What would make this the perfect camera for me?
    More third party lens options
smoother auto focus, more robust like Sony EYE-AF. It has Eye AF but isn’t as good
4k@90p (This is a BIG ask but I would take it even with a crop and maybe only UHD not DCI)

I bought my Fujifilm X-T4 from Amazon Warehouse Deals – I opened after I received my lenses I ordered separately. I thought these things were extensively checked, cleaned or serviced before they put it back on sale. Mine had a giant fingerprint on the Sensor. Hope whoever put their finger on the sensor did not mess with the IBIS system. Not sure how the warranty works on a Amazon Warehouse Deals item. Will do some testing before I decide whether to return it. I am giving a three star review instead of the one star which it deserves because the product is awesome, just the service here is what I did not expect from Amazon.

I’ve been using the camera for animal, skiing, and landscape photography/videography. Image quality is fantastic. Paired with the 16-55 and 100-400. Really like the 4k60 and higher frame rates in video mode. The switch between photo and video mode is fantastic and saves me a lot of time. Only thing that could be improved is autofocus. It’s good but not sony good.
