I’m an old, retired pro photographer who happily switched from Nikon DSLRs to Fuji mirrorless in 2016 primarily to lighten my load.

I love my new X-S10, my fourth Fuji. It’s really been bugging me lately when I read reviews that call this camera “entry level” or “for beginners,” which I am certainly not. That’s a total misrepresentation and underestimation of this great camera. The camera IS somewhat easier for beginners or those new to Fuji to learn because of its PASM interface. But, the capabilities and depth of customization available make it a camera that can please a longtime shooter and grow with anyone who wants to become more proficient.

The best features: Fabulous image quality equal to the flagship X-T4, robust build quality, great IBIS, comfortable, compact size and light weight, superior grip, pop out, fully articulating LCD, Fuji colors, movie button, “auto everything” switch, very customizable.

Is is perfect? No. What I wish I could improve: battery life, weather resistance, and EVF. I also wish the command dials would have more resistance or be electronically lockable so they would be less likely to be changed accidentally. I’m hoping some of this will be improved with firmware updates.

Overall, a terrific camera for many photographers of varying skill levels.

My first Fujifilm was the X100. Then I bought an X100S. And now I also have the XS10. Needless to say, I love Fujifilm cameras, so this review might be slightly biased, but it will be honest.

Coming from other X series of cameras and used to the dial modes on them, the new change to the PASM dial was a bit of a learning curve to me. But, after a bit, I finally got the hang of it. After much use, I still think I prefer the traditional dials that Fuji is known for. However the quality of the camera makes me forget about that.

    Pros:
    1. Small format and large grip. Even with the large grip, and having large hands, there’s plenty room for changing out lenses.
2 Flip screen is awesome. Really helps change perspectives and getting different angled shots.
    3. Solid, and I do mean solid, build quality.
    4. Lightweight
    5. Has a ton of film simulations and descriptions of each.
    5. Still has classic Fuji look.
    6. Anybody looking to switch from other manufacturers will love it as they’ll be used to the PASM controls
    7. Image Stabilization
    8. Auto focus is fast
    9. Touch screen is easy to set up and highly customizable
    10. Etc etc. Just tons of pros.
    11. Excellent as well for vloggers and video quality

    Cons:
    1. The new PASM dial. Though, it’s not necessarily a con, just personal preference of liking the other Fuji dial system better. However, a pro to this con, this system will definitely attract more Fuji lovers that might want to switch from Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc. that are already used to the PASM dial controls.
    2. Battery life. The battery life isn’t the best. But if you make a few changes in the menu, it lasts much longer. IE, auto shut off at 30 seconds, turning Bluetooth off and sounds off, etc. On single still image shot scenario, I got around 350-ish shots on a single battery.
    3. Low light auto focus isn’t that fast at all. Just learn to work with your light.

Overall, I love this camera. Quality build, sharp pics, easy to use. Also, Wasabi Power makes great batteries and chargers. I highly suggest those.

I love love love this camera! It’s everything I’ve ever wanted, it takes fantastic photos, the learning curve is easy enough with tons of videos online. I bought it with the 16-80mm lens for versatility. I’ve had it for 4 months and I can’t wait for spring to get here so I can take photos of flowers etc. Now you should know that this is my first digital camera with interchangeable lenses (my last camera was a film camera).. But I did do months and months of research on which camera to buy. I chose this camera for many reasons, like the built-in Fujifilm simulations as well as its size and weight. I’m very happy with my choice.

I’ve been a “hobbyist” shooter for over 20 years. I’ve had my work in galleries and my worked in juried shows. Just want to let anyone who read this review know that I actually know what I am talking about.

My first camera was a Canon Rebel- a film camera. My last Canon was the D60. I transitioned to a Fujifilm XT100. I love that little camera. But I wanted an upgrade. I wanted the XT4 but couldn’t afford it. So I got this XS10. Yes it has a PASM dial. And as a former DSLR user I LIKE it. I can use this camera on Manual it make my night photography. I can also turn it to Shutter priority to snap pics of my son playing baseball. I love this camera. I adore Fujifilm cameras. It still has the Fujifilm look but with a feel of a small DSLR. If you are switching from a DSLR I cannot recommend this enough. If you are a die hard Fujifilm fantastic and have the $$$ for the XT4 then this may not be for you. But the price point and the larger grip with the guts of an XT4 is what made me get this baby- and I don’t regret it.

I was really surprised by how disappointed I was with the X-S10. It has such good reviews, yet it consistently either overexposes or underexposes photos on auto mode. Unless you’re a photographer pro who has time to set the exposure, shutter speed, etc. for every photo, don’t expect to get decent photos from this camera.

I won’t make this a rant on how incomprehensible Amazon’s packaging processes are. But if Amazon is willing to put air-filled packing bags to keep a pair of $20 generic earbuds safe during transport, shouldn’t they -at the very least- give the same consideration and level of attention to the safekeeping of a $2000+ piece of technology?

Anyhow, to the awesomeness that is the Fujifilm X-S10. She’s absolutely gorgeous!

Oddly enough, I’m upgrading from the X-T200, which is technically in the same generation. However, the X-S10 boasts a great many features and innovations found in Fujifilm’s recent flagship models. So after a lot of research, I thought the pros outweighed the cons. It honestly was an easy decision to make and pick this bad boy up!

    – In-Body Image Stabilization
    – Improved power usage and battery life
    – Higher resolution and sharper image capture
    – More video format and fps options
    – Much improved 4K recording time
    – Greater user personalization options
    – More customizable buttons and dials
    – Deeper feature set and included filters
    – User-friendly menu with simple and intuitive navigation

And that’s just to name a few. Even having the battery/SD card compartment shifted into the substantial integrated grip is a plus to me!

Now there is one major flaw that really stands out – the screen. The size is noticeably smaller than the X-T200 (3″ in the X-S10 vs 3.5″ in the X-T200), and the screen resolution also took a hit. What is great though, is that the screen goes into a power saving mode – the screen dims considerably, and the image displayed is at a much reduced framerate.

So all things considered, I think this was a great upgrade for me. Mind you, I also checked out the competitors’ offerings, but at this price point, no other brand comes close.

It’s only been a day so I haven’t gotten a chance to really play with this. I still have to really put the X-S10 through its paces and see if any issues arise that could be related to the abysmal Amazon packaging. But so far it’s looking like Fujifilm did a fantastic job safeguarding their product, and I can enjoy my new camera with little worry. Happy shopping!

I have owned every FujiFilm X camera model to date and this one is my favourite thus far. Mainly because of the excellent grip! The grip makes all the difference in the world to me. Fuji X photos are superb but comfort is king, and this one delivers both. I only wish that they would have kept the manual dials instead of going to the PASM dial. However, that’s not really a negative as the PASM dial is a more modern design that works extremely well. I just liked the looks of the old school dials. Photo quality, ergonomics and customisation make this camera a winner!

This camera has been hyped as one of the best specced camera in this price range for 2020. Expectations were high, and I really hoped Fuji would fulfill them. First, the unboxing was a little lackluster. The camera does not come with a battery charger, so you would have the tether your camera to the power cable to charge the battery. The camera did feel high quality and good on the hands. Even the plastic parts did feel premium and I would expect it to be fairly durable. Second, the battery life was pretty usable for 3-6 hours of shooting, give or take depending on your settings. This is acceptable but could be better. A second battery would cost you another 100 Canadian, which seems a bit expensive if you wanted to shoot all day without worrying about the battery. The camera itself, I have no complaints about. The photos came out sharp and even the JPEG straight out the camera had amazing colors. The fuji colors we’re not exaggerated, they are very very good. IBIS seemed to work decently, as I was able to stop down the 1/10 of a second SS in low light and still get a fairly clear picture. But, trying to get the raws into lightroom was a pain, you’d have to convert the raw file to something lightroom understands. Alternatively, you could get capture one express for free, but IMO it’s not as good as Lightroom. Finally, the dealbreaker for me, was that you could not get USB tethered shooting as of Dec 2020. This was necessary as I wanted to connect my gimbal and do some video work as well. I spoke to a Fuji rep and they confirmed it was coming sometime next year. Because of that, I had to return the camera. Overall, I’m pretty impressed with the camera performance and the image quality, but it does have it’s negatives as well.

I find it to be an overall great camera. Granted this is my first actual camera, prior to this I was using only my phone camera. But it’s easy to use and I find that it works pretty great. Battery life isn’t that great. I have noticed that it drains pretty quick but overall it’s great

My first thoughts with this camera is it fits nicely in my lineup of X-series cameras. It’s almost a compact version of the X-H1. It seems a bit slower than my X-T3 with blackout times that are a bit annoying. Otherwise it is a great camera and will likely compete with the X-T30 for my favorite travel camera.
