First, let me say that I own a Pentax K50, an Olympus EM10 Mark II, a Canon SL3 and I have owned many other cameras before those current ones. So, I feel I can give a good perspective on my recent FUJI FinePix 130 purchase. I have even owned many point and shoot cameras, most recently the Canon ELPH 180.

The Fuji 130 has many easy to use, pre-controlled, shooting modes. You can put the camera in SR – Scene Recognition Mode, or Auto Mode or Program Mode or you can pick one of the Water Modes, Action Modes etc. If I were advising people on the best settings, I would tell them to put the camera in SR Scene Recognition Mode most of the time and one of the Water Modes if they go swimming. That will cover you for 90% of what you want to do with the camera.

I read many reviews stating that the picture quality isnt good. I disagree. The camera takes very nice pictures when there is ample light. Yes, if it is too dark, the picture quality suffers. But that is true of any camera on the market. You can use the Fuji 130 all day long except when it is dark at night. But for days at the beach, for swimming, for boating on the water, for regular stills during the day or early evening, this camera will take very nice photos.

Fuji is the best in the industry at colour reproduction. The colours in this camera are very good, as I expected. The auto focus works very well at the wide angle and at all zooms when using the 5x zoom capabilities of the lens. My Canon ELPH 180, on the other hand, couldnt focus properly if I zoomed the lens and so I have to give the Fuji 130 higher marks than the Canon.

To summarize, I would recommend this Fuji for the nice lens, the good auto-focus, the wonderful colours, the many easy to use pre-set picture modes and the overall ease of use for everything you can throw at it during the day and early evening, when the sun is still out.

At night, I wouldnt use this camera as the picture quality will suffer. But I still think its a better camera than my ELPH 180 and considering the Fuji 130 can go under water and get sand on it too, I thinks its a good choice.

Oh yeah, you can also make GIFs with this camera. You record a short video and then you tell the camera which part of the scene you want to animate. It then produces a cool GIF of whatever person or object you want to animate in the short scene you just recorded. I think that is very cool.

I’ve owned an XP since 2011 and I’ve used it for a light weight go anywhere camera until it finally started wearing out and the zoom wasn’t functioning as well in 2021. I bought this camera to replace it and it hasn’t disappointed me. I use it to take pictures at work and am often in wet conditions. I am a bit disappointed with the optics as I think my original XP actually gave me a slightly clearer image. However, if this one lasts as long and is as robust as my original XP I expect it will be a very good camera for what I use it for.

My 10 year old daughter loves this camera and we don’t have to worry about her dropping it. I just wish the picture quality was better but she loves it!

The battery is lousy. I had to charge it twice in the same day.

It works great and has a nice clear pic. We use it at qork in a greasy, wet environment and it holds up well. This is the 3rd one we have bought cause it works so well over the years. Only reason for new ones was due to our care and dropping it. And we dropped them a lot. And it held up for years before needing replacing.
