I was contemplating ordering the next size up, but good thing I didn’t because these run very large. Good quality so I will save it in the closet for next year’s uniform.

My daughter is 8 years old, about 54.5″ tall and 80 something pounds. I did not check out the sizing chart before purchasing, mainly because I had been checking a lot of different skirts online, and was going off the assumption that a size 12 is a 12 is a 12 (I’m a guy, so maybe I get a pass?)
She has size 12 Walmart brand skorts right now that she swears are too tight. She’s a little sensitive to tight clothes, and is always trying to stretch things out to loosen them up. So I ordered the 14/16 of this skort. It was huge on her. Like maybe 3 to 4 extra inches on the waist, fall off without even trying big. Based on their size chart, which I looked at afterwards, she would be in the 10/12 range, so I ordered one of those to try. I’m hoping they are a little larger than the Walmart size 12. I like the Walmart ones, they just aren’t carrying them right now because they are not in season.
For these, they look well made, and while a darker shade of blue than her current skirts, I think will still be acceptable at school. They are darker then the picture on here. Maybe more like a midnight blue? I attached a photo with her old skirt on top to see the size difference. When my fiance sent me the picture I thought they sent me the black ones by mistake, but in person you can tell they are blue.
Fingers crossed the new pair I get tomorrow are the right size.

Nice substitute for the school school skirt in our case and skort design offers modesty.

This skort is nothing like the picture. It is made out of a thick, kind of scratchy and slightly stretchy polyester, that doesn’t hold a pleat. As far as fabric goes, imagine your grandma’s tan polyester pants turned into a skirt, with a big, thick, stretchy waistband attached. Yep, that’s basically this skort. My daughter was horrified. It also runs about two sizes too big. My daughter is of average size, and this almost fell off her waist. So weird. It went back.

I like that the skirt is a pull-up, instead of the side zip, which makes dressing so much easier. The fabric is a heavier polyester, so the pleats do hold their shape a little better (although not as stiffly as the cotton-poly blend). The price is great, but i did notice that the skirt i just washed (before wearing) appears to have developed some slight pilling on the fabric near the waist area.
Another issue was that I ordered 2 of the exact same skirts in size 6 and they are completely different dimensions, as seen in the photo. One is 12 inches long, and the other is 13. I’ll have to return the smaller one and reorder…hopefully, the longer one is the size it’s supposed to be.
