Yes it is 200$. Yes you can theoratically use a green blanket at 20$ instead but here is the deal: the whole thing is sturdy and works perfect.

Compared to the green blanket option:
    – you can easily pull it on and off
    – very easy to fix and the fixture is very sturdy
    – you fix it and it is a permanent installation in your house / office
    – you don’t need to worry about folds ruining the effects
    – the screen material is robust and not at all transparent

The thing that suprised me the most, I think, is that the build quality of this screen makes me feel like it is well worth 200$ – I’ve got what I paid for, no doubt about it and I think I would have paid up to 300$ for this kind of quality, having known this before hand.

In summary: bite the bullet. Yes it is still 200$ but it will be part of your home/office for years and, if you are like me, you won’t be shy of it and you won’t regret it a single moment.

This review is for the Elgato Green Screen that hangs from and pulls down from a ceiling mounted position. I was pleasantly surprised by how quality this screen feels and loved the slow retraction feature when putting back up into the closed position. Screen colour is a nice, bright green and you don’t have to deal with any wrinkle issues since it is rolled up. Another nice surprise is that this is very good at blocking light: mine is hanging right in front of a ceiling light and I can’t see any light or variance in the colour of the screen where the light is really close to it.

It was tougher than I thought it would be to get my lighting right for clean video calls, but as far as I can tell this isn’t the fault of the screen.

    Pros
    * Good bright, and even colour.
    * Easy to pull down and retracts out of the way.
    * Slow close-up/retraction is a really nice feature to avoid damaging the unit and making a loud bang.
    * No wrinkles and no variance in colour!
    * Surprisingly good as a black out curtain.

    Cons
    * A little expensive, for what I was looking for.

I was expecting a plastic box, plastic support rods, something that would be prone to tipping over with barely any effort. I was expecting something that would barely do the job, but wasn’t a particularly great product while doing the job.

    I was wrong.

What you get is a big, heavy solid aluminum base (that doubles as compact storage when not in use). Stiff aluminum support rods. Heavy green-screen fabric. The construction on this is sturdy as heck. And worries about it tipping? It won’t, not unless you fall into it.

My only small complaint is that I wish it were a tad wider. Either you place it very close to the back of your gaming chair (which doesn’t give you much room to move around or swivel), or place it a little further back and crop the webcam in OBS to remove the edges the screen doesn’t cover.

Doesn’t come with a UK plug part for the universal adapter so buyers in the UK beware.

Had to buy a separate universal adapter so that I could use this.

    Avoid.

    One light!?
    One light, are you serious?!
Almost every piece of advertising leads you to believe that this is a set, even the price would leave you to believe it’s a set.
ITS SHOWN AS A SET ONE THE BOX!
    BUT NO.
    ONE LIGHT.
I am a cinematographer, I understand professional lighting costs and in my professional opinion I thought that the price was high, even for this set, but enjoyed the fact that you could control them with your PC and that they clamped to the desk to help reduce the light’s footprint.
I thought, hey, $200, for a set like this is a little high but ya gotta pay extra because its a popular brand. BUT it showed up and I was floored.
So basically they expect you to pay $400 to get what you think you ordered.
Do you know what kind of professional lighting kits you can get for that price?
If you want something actually worth the price take some time and look some up.
But all that being said, theres no way I would recommend this product to anyone, maybe at $100 each and $200 for a set, and that’s a serious maybe.
At $200 this should have the option to be battery powered AND have a FREE tripod so you can use it to light whatever scene or shoot you want to for this price.
To have this light sold at a professional price without it having the features of one, simply baised off the brand and popularity of streaming is STRAIGHT UP ROBBERY.
Spend $120-$160 on a cheaper SET of lights, and then take yourself out for pizza and be happy you didn’t get hustled like ya boy right here.
PS. Ya know that scene with Han Solo and Leia, when they’re bickering then she storms off, he’s left slackjawed and says “no reward is worth this”, well, that’s pretty much how I feel about this.
Hopefully this thing goes on sale, so I can return it and be able to afford the set for the same price, the price its mostly worth.
This is like a mirco transaction in the real world.

This Elgato screen costs a little more but it is absolutely worth every penny!! It comes in a metal carry case with two clasps and handle. Two swivel feet on the bottom stabilize the screen when it is deployed. The mechanism is incredible: a light pull on the handle and it rolls straight up and locks into place when it is fully extended. Literally a few seconds to set it up! It rolls back into the case just as easily, with a very light touch on the handle. The materials are top quality and it is the fastest, easiest portable solution. Highly recommended.

Fantastic product for any game streamer. Takes about 20 seconds to set up . And 20 seconds to put down and store under your bed/couch .
I stream on Mixer and my stream looks fantastic now …..

Would buy it again just because i did not want some curtain to hang up or down and all other products were too bulky . If you use OBS or Xsplit its an easy set up as well ….

HIGHLY Recommend this Green Screen ……

Now before i do into why you should stay away from this product, i’ll start by saying WHEN or IF it works, it’s amazing. pricey, but gets the job done.

That said, i’ve read horror stories of just how difficult it is to even pair those things to your network, to frequent disconnects i can 100% confirm this is all true. It took a while to be able to even detect mine, and it takes me hours a week to re-connect them every few days because one or both dropped out. Sometimes it takes a while but they get back on, sometimes it takes days. My second elgato keylight has now refused to reconnect for days to my network. I detect the damn thing but wether or not itll connect is a painfull coin toss every time. Also you have to connect this to a 2.4gz network, somehow it wont even do 5g.

So yeah i’m about to send mine back, it’s been an horrible experience and half the time ill end up using cheap lights in pure frustration out of making my 500+ $ purchase even work.

Stay away until elgato fixes this.

Also alles in allem bekommt man hier ein super Produkt.

Before you buy a KeyLight, Google the term of what a “KeyLight” is and you will find that this Keylight at the bottom end of the scale. When you go to the Elgato website their is a reason why they do not list the light range of the Keylight and specs of the light spread and distance. Most Keylights you can put about 7 feet away from your subject to get the soft lighting effect but this one is intended to be a few feet away to work and when I compare to other Keylight brands, Elgato key lights do not have the option to be portable and battery powered. I think it is over priced and over-rated. For anyone purchasing a Key Light you only need 1 key light in your photography setup and NOT 2. If your planning to buy 2 of these for your setup, then I’d say you do not know what your doing. If your a You tuber, you only need 1 and I would suggest to look at other alternatives.
