DEI 050321 Boom Mat 5.25″ Round Slim Speaker Baffle – Pack of 2

I used these to baffle the speakers in the doors of my 2006 Civic Si. They did a great job of sealing up the speakers, but it also made them sound TERRIBLE. All bass response was GONE. I took them out and the sound quality was orders of magnitude better. If I do put them back in, it will be after I cut the backs out.

The only dislike. I had to trim off the bottom to fit inside the mounting hole with the window down. Tried it before cutting and it does slow down the power window from rolling up as it pressed the glass a bit. 2018 Hyundai Elantra Se Sedan.

I bought these to dampen the bass in my mid door speakers. My doors were rattling even at low volume. These baffles are advertised to improve the sound in your vehicle. These ensure tjere will be zero bass coming from your mid speakers. They certainly do not improve the sound quality in your vehicle. I am going to try to modufy them to let some but not all sound through.

I used these on my 99 Tahoe . I watched a YT video that the short ones would rub against the glass when the window came down after I bought the normal sized ones. So I just cut it half way, faced the speaker face down , put the end ( cup) part on the magnet part then slipped the flange part over the end ( cup) part . Then used some tape. It makes for a nice tight fit . Highly recommend for 88-98 Chevy truck body styles if your a handy person . Not only does it makes your stereo a cleaner sound but protects your speakers from the elements

Excelente ayuda a la bocina a estar protegida y ademas le mejora la calidad y nitidez. No es para quien tiene activo l bocina con bajo ya que al no poder respidar no tiene bajo pero si tienes un sistema completo de audio con un subwoofer veras la mejora inmediata que le da a tus bocinas!! Recomendable ampliamente!!!

I’ve ordered two sets of these Boom Mats (6×9 and 4 inch). All arrived on time and well packed, but… After installing it on my car with amplified 6×9 JBL GTO 938 elliptic speakers, I didn’t notice any sound quality improvement apart from new rattle sound. As someone said previously, they are good if you have amplified sub-woofer and cut your boom mat protected speakers HPF to at least 125Hz as otherwise mat volume (like litres and cubic inches) restriction won’t allow them to move as freely as they should. If you allow your speakers to reproduce full frequency range with these mats, they will be torn apart very quickly. The thing I did notice same day is my JBLs started to overheat, when listened on moderate to high volumes. 4″ boom mats didn’t even fit my 10cm holes… All of the above makes 50 euro investment an absolute waist of money as I had to cut holes in these mats to fit them and they are not going to be replaced… It is not what I have expected, but it is all my fault – learn from it. 🙂

Before I got these installed I was getting water in my front door speakers. They do exactly what there supposed to do which is to keep the water out of the speakers when I wash the car. They do take away a bit of low frequencies. I give them 5 out 5 cause now I can wash my car and not worry about my speakers going all weird.
