Very nice comfortable boots. Had no issues from the first walk. Dry, warm, grippy.
But, I noted what others had said about going up a size. I am usually a 10 or 10 1/2 depending what make they are. So ordered an 11 to be safe. A 10 1/2 would have been fine. Not a huge issue as I wear thick socks for dog walking anyway.
One thing that does annoy me (think someone else mentioned it?), are the laces. They have way too much stretch in them to get them done up tight all the way up. Pull them tight across the top of the foot and they release when you move to the next ringlet. Annoying, as will have to get new laces.

Overall these are quite nice boots, certainly light and comfortable. The sole does cushion extremely well
BUT the sole componenet lacks any torsional stability.. that is it is very easy for the sole to rotate and hurt your foot or ankle. It also makes them less than good or safe on very rough ground.
The sole does grip well in the dry buy the level of grip falls off in the wet especially on exposed surfaces.
WATERPROOF seems to be a passing phase with these, the first time they encountered rain they were fine, the second time they leaked. I have just walked 3 miles on pavements in the rain and my feet are soaked.
If you limit your walking to nice complaint soft ground in the dry you’ll be fine. Don’t try wet bare rock in the rain, you’ll have wet feet and will probably end up slipping down at some point.
By comparison I have a pair of Alt-Berg motorcycle boots which have waterproof leather uppers (no gortex just good grade leather). I am on my second set of vibram soles and the uppers are STILL waterproof at 5 years old.
After 3 months and limited use these Ridge plus are essentially trash. I WILL NOT be buying products from this manufacturer again and these boots have been put in a bag for recycling.

A basic casual walking/hiking boot, claiming to be waterproof…we shall see…lugged traction sole…good to see…a pair of black laces, two different lengths, one too short to be tied…what the hell? So I have ordered a replacement pair, should be here soon. I haven’t encountered this particular cheat before, and I am wondering, what is the point ? My first pair of boots from Columbia …and I think I am done with the company. Over a $100.00 a pair, and you cheat on the damn laces? Unbelievable.
It has been a week since I contacted Columbia about the lace situation. No response. Two stars.

So far I’m very happy with these boots, though the leather doesn’t seem to be of a high grade/quality. It seems like the boots wouldn’t hold a shine if you tried. To be quite honest, the leather seems somewhat soft and doesn’t seem like a full or top grain…maybe genuine at best.
I purchased these solely for hiking, and I think they’ll do just fine on treks for 5 days or less, but I don’t think I would count on them for anything more demanding than that.
The boots fit well – I’m on the large side of a size 12 and sometimes need a 13 depending on the shoe/boot, but these in size 12 seem to fit perfectly.
Once I put some milage on the boots I’ll update my review.

Love the boots but the eyelet came out when tightening laces see attached photos.
I am
In process of exchanging them with you
For $158 dollars quite expensive. I was expecting better quality for hiking boots.

Bought these for walking the dog. I didn’t want to pay the price for a top quality walking boot and therefore thought the asking price for these quite acceptable.
First the good points: they are very comfortable and lightweight. They are a delight to wear – you hardly know they are on your feet. Quite wide fitting too – which helps with my bunion !
Now the bad points: the leather is quite thin and in cold, snowy conditions they aren’t that good at keeping your feet warm. But the worst issue is the quality of the ‘rubber’ sole – it is very soft and since I am flat-footed the heel is wearing far too quickly. I can’t imagine they will last anywhere as long as a pair of ‘proper’ walking boots

Good stuff first. They fit well and are comfortable. A bit tightish to start with but with a month of wearing they moulded around my feet. Bad stuff: not completely waterproof; the mesh making up the tongue lets through small amounts of water. I also question the ‘leather’ uppers; they look more like rubber rather than leather, so they look more like work boots rather than hiking boots. After a month of wearing at about five miles a day, I would expect some creasing of leather but no signs of that. Would I recommend? No.

it advertised as leather but is synthetic material and is cracking at bend points it is leaking at bend points and sole is separating from top of shoe complete piece of crap and should not be sold by amazon .i would like my money back or a replacement.

No complaints originally with these boots, but having used them as designed (i.e. hiking) they have failed after about 6 months of occasional use. The stitching on the inseam has broken away, leaving an hold in the boot. As a result, the boots leak water!
The design of the tongue is not great either, as this area leaks water galore as well. This you could live with or use gaiters, but when the stitching fails, then the boots are next to useless.
Not information about expected fair wear and tear. Doubt I will be buying this brand again.

This is the second time I buy these boots. The first pair lasted me a good while of intermittent use in rain, in snow and on hikes. I have no complaints regarding durability. The main concern here is that it takes a few good hikes to wear them in. They are not comfortable out of the box but once they’re worn in they’re fantastic.
Sizing is tricky, I ordered 3 pairs the first time to get it right. They run 1 size smaller than my Nikes. The good news is that I was able to order the same size the second time and they fit great.

I generally wear an 11 regular but opted for the 11 wide anticipating I would be wearing these with thicker socks in the fall and winter. Even with the wide version I found them to be extremely tight and squeezed my foot more than my liking and willing to tolerate.
If you are lucky enough to fit into these boots, the boots look amazing. I especially like the wheat colour oppose to the darker tan versions and the red laces is a nice pop of colour. I was actually saddened I had to return these but wasn’t going to gamble $120 that they may or may not stretch over time.

I never trust reviews that say the shoe is comfortable right out of the box but these really are! A first for me. I didn’t need any break in period. I purchased these hiking boots for the purpose of hiking. I had purchased another pair that over time turned out just to be too narrow for my feet. I have flat feet and after a long hike, the sides of my feet are crammed against the sides so I thought maybe going with a wide shoe was the way to go. These are perfect. They are not too wide, they give me just enough extra room to keep my feet comfortable. I went on a five day hike throughout Zion averaging 15 miles a day, hiking 7-8 hours a day over snow, mud, ice and rocky terrain and these hikers were fantastic — really are very comfortable. Was waterproof for the most part on my trip. I’ve read countless reviews these shoes do not wear well and I’m okay with that… planning to use mink oil on them and hopefully I can squeeze a few years out of them. So if you are like me and normally wear a regular sized hiker but need just a bit more room to keep things comfortable without scarificing angle support and traction, these are a good pair to consider in the wide.
