Amazon Customer –
Comes with a new blue wrap on the outside of the filter that’s supposed to inhibit mould. All it does is dry out the filter after 2-3 weeks. I’ve been running the older style filters for years and get 2-3 months out of one with proper maintenance. Will be buying knock off filters from now on.

Works well. Bought this one because the regular was out of stock. My daughter uses a humidifier near every night, we live in Arizona. This one says it’s “premium” but it really just has an extra layer around the filter. I didn’t notice a difference in filtration and it actually started to smell faster than the regular one.

Although my humidifier takes the size of filter it did not fit as easily as the previous ones I have purchased that don’t have the extra blue filter around them. I was able to get it in there it just took some work.
other than that issue, it’s a great filter and much better quality than the third-party ones that I have purchased in the past.

Fits and works well. Will have to wait and see how long it lasts. The secret with these is to flip it over with every refill of water. If either end of these filters are allowed to dry out and get “crusty” then they are pretty much toast.

Amazon is now selling an inferior product and pretending that it is the same thing as listed. They used to sell the actual HC-888N, which is the honeycomb filter with the blue mesh outside. It lasts about a month and a half in my humidifier, and is a good product. It’s also bilingual Fench/English as is required for all products meant to be sold in Canada. NOW, they are selling HC-888 and calling it HC-888N, (it’s marked clearly on the box, though; they can’t have accidentally mistaken it), which does not have the blue mesh outer, and lasts about a week and a half. They’re selling it for the same price, and the product is not meant for sale in Canada as it is English/SPANISH on the box. I am really upset with Amazon, as it’s pretty evident that this is an inferior product. $10 every 1-1.5 months is one thing, $10 every 1.5 weeks is unacceptable. I will be buying elsewhere.
Edited after some time: And the price has now nearly doubled since they dropped the quality! That’s really the final straw.

I guess it is a combination of this filter and the Honeywell humidifier but the design seems to be a breeding ground for mould. Our house is very dry but we had to take this filter out every couple of days and wash it as it was constantly getting mouldy. Ended up just buying a filter-less humidifier after a couple of weeks because it was too much work to stay on top of the mould.

I bought this product because I saw on the Amazon website it was recommended as a wicking filter for my Honeywell HEV355C QuietCare Cool Moisture Humidifier, which I had also bought from Amazon.
It turned out, however, that Certified Honeywell HC888PFC Humidifier Replacement Wicking Filter, Filter C did not fit my humidifier – it was much higher than the original one.
Can I exchange for the right one or can I simply cut off the surplus?

This Premium filter with the Blue layer is working like a charm. It holds the moisture much better than the previous replacement filters I have used with my Honeywell HCM-890 series humidifier. I am sure it will also last longer. Recommended!

Not sure why but the filter gunks up easily (the Ontario water maybe?) and have to be replaced more often than advertised. It’s basically impossible to clean off too. overall not happy with keeping buying those filters.

The filters arrived in a soft mailer which damaged all the individual boxes and the filters were squished which could reduce the life of the filters themselves. Since the filters come from the manufacturer in their own boxes, my recommendation to the distributor would be to package the individual softer boxes that they come in into a corrugated cardboard box so the product customers are expecting arrive undamaged. Although still useable, the potential for shelve life of the filters more than likely will be reduced.

Purhased at 13 they were pretty poorly performing. At the elevated 20$ It’s absolutely not worth it for a “C” type. Much higher quality type “N” Honeywell branded filters available at local home improvement stores IRL for 15$. The same High quality filters on Amazon? 60$.
Save yourself frustration and the low quality type “C” filters that last about a week, and instead acquire them IRL.

While it seems like it’s a great product, I didn’t really have a chance to try it because although it says fits 890 Series, that wasn’t true. The filters I’ve used in the past were 4″ tall and this one was 6″, making it impossible for the top base to sit properly.
If it had been just 1/4″ less, I’m sure it would’ve worked. Or maybe I just had a defective one with the wrong size.

Not cheap, and Honeywell does not want you to clean it with vinegar or acid (but next time I will try, anyway). The excellent Honeywell humidifier I have pumps out gallons of water daily, so the filter loads up, of course. Recommend to turn it over weekly to get best life out of it. In my case, I need a new filter every 4 to 5 weeks, in the winter. That adds up to the cost of the humidifier in one year.
If you can install a furnace-mounted humidifier on a forced-air heating system, that’s a much better option. Your other choices are ultrasonic or centrifugal humidifiers, both of which leave a fine white powder in the air (the dissolved scale has to go somewhere, after all). Or, you can feed your humidifier with RO / distilled water, which is a cost on its own.
