I bought this mostly for fun, quick shots, and it hasn’t disappointed. The zoom, in particular, packs a powerful punch, and I’ve been able to post some photos that have friends online asking what kind of camera I’m using (most assume it’s a much larger DSLR with a massive zoom). A few sample photos I took in the first month are attached to this review. The auto-focus isn’t state-of-the-art fast but is pretty good, and as expected there are a variety of creative special exposure modes you can take advantage of. Deleting photos is a little more difficult than it should be, requiring several steps. Battery life is pretty decent. The included owner’s manual is in small print and not the easiest to read or navigate unless you have 20/20 vision, but it certainly has all the information you need (there’s also an online user’s manual available for download that’s more user-friendly). I also ordered the sync cord for easy transfers to my laptop without having to remove the memory card.

Bonne prise d’images.

It’s a very new and the latest smart powershot camera I have ever seen. A very different experience with 40X zoom. My best wishes to the importer also who not only kept their words but also extended very nice customer support. With all my best wishes.

The camera is great but beware of the Canon warranty. I sent the camera in for a lens cover opening problem and it was fixed it on warranty and returned it but it had the same problem. Then I sent it back 2 more times for the same problem. After I returned the second time they said it would be fixed but the problem was caused by misuse. Again they returned with the same problem but now it was my misuse. The third time with the same problem the want to charge me 200.00 after I talked to someone on the phone who said they would replace the camera. I am 65 and have used Canon camera’s for 30 years + but will by Nikon going forward. I really hate companies that are so cheap and would rather save 200.00 than honor their warranty, service repairs and customer loyalty.

No especificaba que el conector de la clavija era europeo y tuve que hacer el gasto comprando el adaptador, de todo lo de más bien, buena camara y buen precio

I bought this camera before a trip that required a minimum of luggage/weight/fuss, and it was a good open-box deal, much cheaper than brand-new. I am now using it as a pocketable everyday travel companion.
The good: The 40x zoom is fantastic, and can catch stuff you won’t believe your eyes. In good lighting conditions, this camera can produce beautiful, vibrant images that seem to come from a much more expensive piece of equipment. The added functions for various shooting styles can be fun, video is 1080p with stereo sound, and you can use the zoom during recording.
The bad: Image stabilization is a joke, and the small sensor means that the camera will struggle under poor lighting conditions. Also, pictures taken at ISO 1600 and above exhibit a terrible amount of noise. I would argue that ISO 800 should be considered the absolute upper limit – going beyond that means you don’t care about the picture quality. Also, you cannot take snapshots while filming: pressing the shutter button will stop the video recording.
All in all, if you learn to work with (and around) its limitations, it will be a decent all-around, pocketable camera.
Since this was a refurb/open box, it came with two aftermarket batteries and an aftermarket charger which is unfortunately much larger than necessary (i.e. the original part) . The bateries, however, seem to hold their charge well even after extensive use.

This is a great camera choice if you want an amazing zoom, flip up lcd and decent video quality. If you are real fussy on picture quality this might not be the one for you. It’s very good but my Ricoh GR IV is superior with better with macro. Overall the Canon SX 730 is a more useful versatile camera so a great choice for the average amateur photographer who wants a pocket size camera with a great zoom. The Zoom is the most impressive feature and worth having. Maximum 40x the picture quality is stunning. This has to be the best in it’s class in that regard. Pay close to half price like I did and it’s worth every penny and more. UPDATE using it for a month now I’m more impressed then ever. Side by side with my Ricoh the Canon wins in overall value and versatility . The Ricoh’s macro is still the best but the Canon wins hand down with all else. What a great camera and a Canon gem. I would buy another and I just might if I can get another deal. The video is stunningly good. Detail and anti shake are amazing. Low light performance is far superior to my Ricoh. BUY IT

That little camera is a charm… not to big but wow, the zoom on that is impressive. Yeah at 160X the picture is not like the Hubble but, the thing I like the most, is to do movies with that camera. Some camera can’t use their digital zoom but this one does. With a tripod and that zoom, you can make pretty good nature movie. I did a movie of swallow at my house and was impress to see that bird filling my big screen TV at 1080p. I was impress with all the WiFi options too. I transfer my stuffs on the PC, iPhone and iPad flawlessly. Powerful zoom and compact… perfect traveling buddy.

I am absolutely loving this camera. The 40x zoom means I can get closeups of birds and other wildlife without getting so close to them that I scare them away. The flip up screen is great; when you hold a fixed screen camera up to your eyes it’s hard to see in bright sunshine, but this movable screen allows you to hold the camera a little lower and look down at the screen, making it much easier to see. I’ve taken hundreds of photos since I bought the camera two months ago, and haven’t once been disappointed in its performance.

REally love the camera with its clear and long distance zoom. Every thing is great, the only thing that could be better is the Flash. Could be a little stronger but over all the camera is great.
