The lens it comes with is a no-go for me. That’s why the mount adapter is a must and that’s why it’s not a bad idea to purchase the body only, with the mount adapter. However, the camera is incredible. I’m in love. I’m going from a canon rebel t6 to this full frame work of art. It’s beautiful, honestly. The con is the battery life is not the best. Make sure to have spares. If you stay on it and don’t want to stop due to a dying camera, spares are NEEDED. The thing with my t6 is that it lasted forever in a day. Photography is a hobby for me, so some days I wanna shoot all day and some days I wanna shoot a little, then there’s those very few days I just let it rest.

I have been thinking of replacing my t4i for a few years and I’m glad I did. Most of the negative reviews must be from serious/pro photographers who would be better served with the higher end R camera ($$$). However, I mostly take pictures of my family, vacations, and maybe the occasional scenery shot. The auto focus is very fast and it can continuously autofocus for example when your kid charges at you to see what picture you just took, you can just keep clicking. Our first trip was to the beach and I was blown away by the pictures. My T4i is a bit old at this point, but I didn’t realize how old it was until i upgraded to the RP. Beaches have a lot of backlight reflected from the sand and water which causes people to appear as shadows. But even on auto, people’s faces are bright, easy to see, and in focus and the background behind them isn’t washed out. I had a much higher percentage of in focus, well balanced images to choose from than my old camera.
I ended up getting the lens with the RP as well and even though my old lens had slightly better specs, I had no problems with the new lens (maybe because the body is so much better than my old camera). I would definitely buy this again given the choice.

This camera and lens combo are very useful and make a particularly good addition to my collection. Love it.

If you are like me, you have read or watched multiple reviews of the Canon RP and have already decided you can live with the tradeoffs. But unless you have actually handled it, you won’t know if the EVF will be acceptable. For me, it wasn’t. The EVF is physically small and low resolution. It distorts at the edges, especially if your eye placement is a little off center. The fact that I wear glasses probably made it worse.

The same resolution EVF is used in plenty of mirrorless cameras, and don’t get bad reviews, so this may not be a problem for most people. That’s why I gave it 4 stars – because in most other ways I really liked this camera and would have happily kept it if I didn’t have trouble with the EVF. But because of the EVF, I had to send it back.

I got it with the 24-105 kit lens. Nice range and operated smoothly, but poor sharpness. Unusably soft in all edges and corners. If Canon were to upgrade the EVF, I’d buy this camera again, but would get the adapter for my EF lenses instead of the kit lens.

Lightweight with perfect ergonomics. Easy to use viewfinder that allows complete control via the multi-function button without your eye leaving the viewfinder. The tilt screen allows touch focus and shooting, my first camera with this capability. The camera HDR function produces stunning photos. The 24-105 STM lens that comes with the camera is tack sharp and the lens has IS that allows handheld shooting down to 1/15th of a second. The remote camera operation via iPhone works flawlessly. An incredible value.

I’ve owned so many great APS-C and full frame cameras both high and low end. This one is my favorite! Canon just nails the colors and so I now rarely shoot raw since the jpgs are that good. The camera fits my hand like a glove and it’s super compact but very comfortable to hold – even for extended periods. All the buttons are in easy reach and the camera is highly customizable. The evf and lcd screens are more than adequate and I have no issue when manually focusing (very precise). Autofocus and eye tracking are awesome too – makes shooting portraits a breeze!
There are few knocks like battery life, but nothing to really complain about – especially at this price point. Well done Canon!

I previously had a Canon T3i and I absolutely loved that thing. It was amazing the results that camera could do for its time and I will always think it’s one of the best budget cameras ever made. However, I’ve recently gotten more into video and that is one thing the T3i wasn’t meeting my needs for. It was missing so many features like autofocus and modern video resolutions and frame rates.

Therefore, my search for a new camera began. I seriously debated nearly every camera in this price range from every manufacturer. Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, you name it. However, it seemed like they all had one fatal flaw to them. Sony with their weird coloring, Fujifilm with the overheating issues, Panasonic with the awful autofocus. Some were better at photos, some were better at video. However, I needed something that would do great with both, as I wanted this to be something I could shoot professional portraits with but also shoot vlogs. At the end of the day, all signs pointed to this camera, and I’m so glad this is the one I chose.

I’m not a super-advanced user, however, I do think I’ve moved past the beginner stage of photography and videography. I think this camera really fits me perfectly as I’m not incredibly overwhelmed with options and features that I don’t know how to use, but it still has a ton of capability that allows me to learn more about photography and videography. I’ve also just been using the 24-105 kit lens that comes with this bundle on Amazon.

The video on this is amazing. HUGE step up from the T3i. The face detecting autofocus works great and nearly all of my shots are perfectly in focus unless it’s super dark which it has a little more of a struggle with but obviously any camera would. I was a little hesitant about the fairly disabled 4k capability with this camera due (disabled dual pixel AF, crop factor, 30 min time limit, 30 fps max) especially since other cameras in the price range have a more robust 4k capability. However, I’ve found that 1080p meets my needs just fine and looks absolutely gorgeous. It’s also much more friendly on the file size and processing in video editing.

The photo capability has shocked me even more than the video. I knew this would obviously be a great camera for photos, but I didn’t realize what a step up from my T3i it would be. I honestly thought my T3i photos would look just about as good as this camera since the T3i does admittedly take amazing photos. However, this blows it out of the water. The autofocus on this is SO much better. With the T3i, fast moving subjects were nearly impossible to get in focus. This does so much better. The full-frame sensor on this camera makes a huge difference too. The low light performance is so much better and the size of these photos is insane. You can zoom in to the photos so much and it’s still amazingly clear.

As for the body of the camera itself, it feels incredibly well made. Grabbing my T3i now feels like a cheap plastic toy compared to this thing. It feels very solid and durable. The grip on the camera is incredibly easy and comfortable to hold.

The only negative thing I’ve encountered so far is the kit lens that comes with this bundle doesn’t have a physical switch between autofocus and manual focus. You have to go into the camera settings to switch between them. I don’t find myself doing this very often as the autofocus is amazing but when I do need manual focus it’s a little bit of an inconvenience.

Overall, it’s an amazing camera and I’m very happy that I went with this one.
