I found myself needing a compact, lightweight tripod that I could carry with me for work which required me to travel via trains or planes.

Straight out of the box I could see that this tripod would give me a nice compact option for travelling. It’s lightweight (weighing just 1.13KG), folds down pretty small (46.5cm) and even comes with its own carry case (which my Manfrotto does not). This tripod comes with a ball-head – a different system to manoeuvre the camera than what I’m used to. I guess I could always look at replacing the ball-head with a 3-way system on this tripod for future use.

Build quality of the K&F Concept tripod is what I would describe as decent but not ground-breaking but at this price point (at the time of writing this – £53.99 on Amazon) you’re not going to get carbon fibre or other high quality materials instead you get a magnesium aluminium alloy frame and plastics. Fully extended a camera can be mounted at 156cm which isn’t the loftiest of heights but I guess a tripod marketed as being compact isn’t going be among the tallest on the market. Having said that, 156cm will probably be tall enough for most situations. The centre column of the tripod can be reverse mounted for macro photography. Similar to all tripods I’ve ever used, the K&F Concept tripod comes with a quick release plate system where a plate is mounted to the bottom of your camera, this plate has a corresponding part on the tripod which securely attaches the camera to the tripod.

I liked how small and lightweight the tripod is for carrying around. I have to carry a lot of gear with me to shoots so lightening the load a little is always good in my book. Having said that due to the lightweight I wouldn’t say that this tripod would hold up well in windy outdoor conditions when shooting landscape photography. For my main uses it performs well and the carry case is a very handy addition. For the price it’s certainly a decent option for a photographer that travels a lot.

For the price, it definitely exceeds expectations. It performs just as well as any tripod and it being so light makes the payload on my bag more manageable. I survived casually walking around the city with this on my backpack for 7-hours (with breaks). The only gripe I have with this is that if you do long-exposure shots, the lightest bump to the tripod can cause enough vibration/shaking to affect your shot. I’ve yet to try it on a relatively windier day. I will try updating this review until then.

let me start by saying being one of my tripods is not a easy life. I use my tripods regularly in Salt water.
Recently I’ve started to use cheaper lighter tripods because I just don’t want to be carrying a heavy tripod around so bought one of these.
The tripod has lots of useful features such as one of the legs having foam on it, the panning action for panos is nice and the tripod is Arca Swiss head (much more stability on portrait shots because the lens is centrally above the legs rather than hanging over the side). The main problem with the tripod is that all the legs eventually fell off after less than a years service. This may be due to the hard life my tripods get. The reason why I’d buy this again is because I’ve just superglued the legs back in and it’s as good as new. Everything else about this tripod is perfect for me. I’m also past the stage of worrying about portraying myself as a good photographer by having a more established Manfrotto or similar. I’m more confident in actually knowing what I’m doing and knowing that this is a better tripod for me. Plenty out there …..with all the gear and no idea.

Can’t say enough about this tripod, other than I’ve been all over Asia with this. It’s compact, dependable, and super strong when you hold it. I’ve had 3 other tripods before this, and none of them have withstood over a year of use. I’m now over that mark with this one by K&F Concepts. The ball head is super easy to use and lets me move around the camera fluidly.

From backpack to set up, I take less than 30 seconds to get my shot ready to go. (You will get faster as you use it multiple times!)

I’ve used quite a few tripods in the past for filming videos and taking pictures and none were as full featured as this one. Keep in mind that this tripod does not have a long handle for filming videos, so it’s hard to pan. But it’s a highly adjustable tripod for pictures that reaches great heights and has many nifty mechanisms to conform to any angle you want. It has a solid build quality and can take on quite a bit of weight. I also love that it comes with a carrying bag of its own since it’s also very portable once folded. Solid purchase and well worth the price.

So far its everything I wanted on a tripod it has. I use it in a fixed location and it rarely badged when wind blew on it. I purchased this so as to have a quality tripod that would be stable when set up and plenty room for adjustments, but the primary element that attracted me to this one is the ability to tip the head to a horizontal position so as to allow the camera to look down upon a subject. The locking mechanism is really sturdy as well, easy to switch between different position. Diffidently recommend to other ppl

The soft hand grip is not firmly attached it slips up and down, the little bolt for camera has no cover, so you can not even keep your thumb on top, if you apply pressure on top the telescope part that allows it to expand and become shorter gives in to the pressure and it starts becoming shorter, the clips do not have a firm hold on the metal, since it is a monopod , you still have to hold it in place so camera pod functionality is not a big deal , why screw your camera on to it when you must take picture while keeping it in balance. I can send it back for refund but sending back is another run around, so I lost money on it, yet I want other good people to not waste their money.

  9. Just My Opinion

This thing literally goes everywhere my camera goes. It has a good panoramic head, for horizontal photographs, is sturdy and stable, and comes with a decent bag. The only reason I deducted one star, off of versatility, is that vertical panoramics are compromised because although you can place the camera in portrait mode, it isn’t stable. But you can’t have everything at this price point. If large panoramics are your thing, you’ll know to buy a specialist piece of equipment, otherwise this will suffice. For everything else, this tripod is very good.

I think it’s amazing. Very versatile tripod with really solid build quality from what I can observe upon first use. The bearing type 360 feature is super handy and the leg extension sections and centre adjustment provide lots and lots of height options. Also like that you can adjust the angle of the legs to stabilize the tripod when needed ie wind. I’d recommend this.

UPDATE: After using this for 5 months I’m super impressed. I have quite a few different style tripods and this one is my favorite by far. I’ve attached not only my camera but also video heads. There are a multitude of adjustments I can make on the fly with this tripod. It folds down into the carrying case so beautifully and is a snap to set up quickly and easily. It is my go to travel tripod on every shoot. Really excellent quality. For me, well worth the investment. I’d do it again without hesitation.

i admit that it took me a lot to find a tripod, i saw think like more than 20 products, but this K&F caught my attention and after checking on amazon i finally took the decision to buy it, really good product, it has a lot of functionalities which are great, 360 ball really impressed me a lot, I also like that the legs have clips to open and close.
The carring bag is OUTSTANDING quality!!!

Note, edits at the end of the review regarding fault.

Wanted a more compact tripod to replace a cheap as chips tripod I’ve had many years use out of, as I wanted to do a bit more landscape photography, this would be much easier to carry. Based on reviews this seemed perfect.
It arrived very well packaged, with a nice little pouch cover the head to protect it, the carry bag also has the added option of a shoulder strap and I like that one of the legs has a foam coating around it, helps keep your hands a little warmer when carrying it in the winter. The trip is very compact, lightweight and very sturdy in windy conditions.
It states it’s quick release, which to me, means flicking a little lever and it’s released, this you have to screw to tighten around the plate, ok only a few seconds, but when your hands are freezing, screwing and unscrewing something isn’t always easy to do!
That was just a minor niggle for me though and one I was happy to live with as I was impressed with the tripod.

However, after just a few weeks of use it started to leak a sticky gel from where the head rotates. I would’ve expected this from my cheapo tripod, but not one at this price. I understand it’ll need some kind of gel to keep the rotation so smooth, but had I known it would leak as much as it does I would’ve chosen another tripod, as it gets all over everything. Reading through the reviews there only seems to be one other who’s experienced this, so I’m guessing I just have a faulty one.
Sadly I’m outside of the return window now so just have to make do until I can afford to replace it.

***Edit 04/12 – Seller (dcmall) contacted me within hours of this review being published, and advised the tripod is faulty, they sent a replacement out which was received the next day. Will test the new one and update my review accordingly***

***Edit 11/12 – Tested the replacement tripod this weekend, and it’s been great. When comparing the two, I noticed the head on the first was very loose/wobbly in comparison to the replacement, which makes me believe the first one I received was definitely faulty. I slipped and fell on the replacement this weekend on the ice, no breakages (tripod or me) the head is still solid and leaks no gel.
Very happy with the service provided by the seller (thank you) and now very happy with the tripod!***

Was looking for light weight yet rigid and versatile tripod. I’ve owned at least 7 tripods so far and this is by far the best! I researched a lot of models from very expensive to Walmart types. Went and saw tripods at Walmart, Best Buy pro photography stores etc. The ones that felt sturdy were very heavy and expensive the ones that were under $100 and $50 range were either too flimsy and bad quality or no functionality.
Compared prices, brands and very glad I chose this one. Very light yet feels very strong and sturdy. Very functional. It’s also beautifully made, folds compact and when open its stands tall I’m 6’1” tall and can stand straight without bending back and look through camera view finder.
The carry bag itself talks about overall quality. It’s a very well made bag with thick padding inside and not just a thin nylon bag.
Time should tell how this fairs in field. I’m going to use this for my Canon 70D, for travel and semi pro photography.
There’s nothing in market at this price for this quality from what I researched and saw.
