C9 Champion Boys’ Core Mesh Shorts-9″ Inseam

For the past 4 years my son has worn the C9 shorts from a certain bullseye retailer, but they discontinued the partnership. He’s tall and thin and these shorts always fit him perfectly, even when other brands did not. Last year he wore a size L and I was excited to try these in the XL. They are SO much bigger and baggier! I am going to try a size L (despite the fact that his current L shorts are too small) and see if that works. Really hoping sizing down works.

My son states these are light & comfy. The material seems good & the C9 line is generally durable. We first ordered the XL, the tag says 14/16 & it was too big around the waist & very baggy. The size Large 12/14 fit him great & still has a tad of room for growth. He normally wears a size 14 pants & shorts, they are usually a tad roomy as he is slender, but not overly so. Overall these are good in build & color, just watch the sizing.

This brand/style was previously sold exclusively at a popular large retail store (the one with the red bullseye) and I always bought them each summer because they were affordable and durable…the mesh never tore. I was disappointed when that store stopped carrying the brand but relieved to see Amazon was now selling the C9 mesh shorts. However, if you are looking, like me, for the same type of C9 shorts previously sold at that large retail store you should be aware the sizing/cut is not the same as it was in years past. My 10 yr old, tall/skinny son wore a Medium in C9 Mesh shorts when they were sold previously at the other store but the Amazon C9 medium is much bigger and super baggy. Looks sloppy. Tried a Small and they are way too small/short for him. So he won’t be wearing C9 Mesh shorts this summer. Similarly my 6 yr old son consistently wear’s an XS in this brand, and while he can still wear the XS sold from Amazon it is baggier and has more fabric than his other ones.
