This was a big purchase desicion for me.. and at the end i have to be honest; i am regretful.. i was decideinf between shenhizer and made a mistake purchaseing these. Build quality is ok . Packageing was very cheap.. but at the end of the day THE SOUND is not good, mixes terrble and base not sharp at all. Sound detination is VERY GOOD, but the actual sound .. i can never seem to get proper pleasure from my music , feel like something is always missing, NOT LOUD enough and and higher volumes sound is very much distorted. I would recomend SAVING your money and avoid this Purchase.

    Pros:
    – Sound quality is good, not super bass-y but that’s not a bad thing
    – Build quality is solid, doesn’t feel cheap in the slightest
    – The noise cancelling is top notch, I would say the best in the industry. Working in a data centre it can almost cut out all the noise from the servers.
    – Battery life is great. I have worn them for over 6 hours with noise cancelling on high and only made it to 50%.
    – The included case is great. A hardshell exterior with an included pocket on the inside and outside.
    – The included 3.5mm cable is a good length but very thin.
    – The Google assistant button is nice, having it read your notifications to you or tell you the time is convenient. Plus you get the option to use the button to change the noise cancellation level (high/low/off) or change to Alexa.
    – The buttons for media control are very good

    Con:
    very short included micro-usb cable

I use these everyday when commuting to work. The sound quality is good, the ANC is great, i do get the occasional glitch when putting my phone in my jeans or coat. The battery life is amazing, i charge them once every 3 days overnight and never had the battery did below 40%.

My biggest gripe as to be the mic. It is unintelligible that a $500 headset that is meant to be for everyday use has a built in mic quality of a dollar store product manufactured in the 1990’s. Ok i understand you can buy an addon mic but why would you need to? You just paid a fortune for these and if the manufacturer knows that this feature is sub-par, why not include them.

Overall, i can’t complain, even when i am not listening to music, having the ANC helps disconnect from the world. Would I recommend them? ONLY if they are on sale because breaking the bank for these headsets will only lead to major disappointments.

Edit: Updating to firmware 4.5.2 has SIGNIFICANTLY degraded the quality and effectiveness of ANC. I suffer from chronic migraines in addition to working in a lousy environment. As such, I am no longer able to benefit from what was once the best ANC headphones on the market. I went to a Bose store and the agent simply refused to take my concerns seriously despite showing him that there is almost no discernable difference between high and low ANC. I even asked the rep to downgrade to firmware 3.1.8 and Bose took that option away from us. He simply refused to acknowledge my concerns saying that all was working normally despite us hearing the conversation from another rep 5 meters away.

In any case, I will be given away these headphones and moving away from Bose products.

    Nachtrag:

I give it five stars. My wife hates them she would give it 1. I put them on and that’s it. I can’t hear her any more.

For a long time I have been using headphones and they all seem to have something that is not great or wear out quickly or crappy noise cancellation.
I have used these every day since buying them specifically for work. I listen to soft music to help me concentrate, blue tooth phone is awesome, music quality is best headphones I have used. Most important is the noise cancellation. I can no longer hear other people talking in the office not even the loud ones. People need to tap my shoulder to get my attention because I can not hear them. This is wonderful to help me concentrate. I really like the extra parts i can buy on line like new ear muffs etc when or if these wear out and I am sure they will, all of them do.
    Thank you Bose.

    Love it

In addition to my original review I have had some issues since then I’d like to share. I use these headphones once a day when I work remotely. They are always stored in the case provided. 6 weeks after receiving the head set I removed them from the case only to have many tiny little bits fall into the table and floor. The screw pin used to connect the ear piece to the head band came apart, and fell out along with at least 7 washers. Called the Bose help desk that didn’t help at all after a 30 minute wait. I went to the Bose store in the west Edmonton mall. Connor and his colleague were great to deal with and replaced them without any issues. Cant say enough about the great experience there but very disappointed that the lock right was missed during assembly. I’d hate for this to happen while traveling abroad.

    Things I already knew:
    – These are not bass centric
    – Noise cancellation does not block all sounds, but blocks most.
    Things I did not know:
    – Sound distorts at max volume
    – There’s a crackling noise every now and then
You can do a google search to see that they are known issues and many users are facing these. The above 2 points were unacceptable in a 30000/- bucks headphone. I got these for 20k during the sale but still unacceptable. It was so shocking to me that I went to a bose store to check a) if they are genuine or not b) to demo a pair to see if the issues exist in the demo as well. They were genuine and the same issues existed in the demo pair as well.
Thank you so much Amazon for the quick delivery and for processing the return. I would have been stuck with these if I would have bought them elsewhere. Anyone who has them and says these issues do not exist is either deaf or too proud to accept that he/she has been duped by bose.

I have had the liberty of owning both headphones. The Bose QC35 Series 2 and the brand new Sony WH-1000XM3. I have used both for walking, aeroplane travel, travel on the underground in London and and general stuff like walking and around the house.

The Sony’s – Greatly improves over the series 2 version of the headphones. They are a right fitting headphone, very loud and impressive base. You can fiddle with the base, treble and noise cancellation until your hearts content as it’s all adjustable via the app. The best thing about these is the noise cancellation. It is the market leader and has overtaken the Bose in this area. They are comfortable and made to high standards. You can even adjust the noise cancellation at different altitudes such as in the aeroplane and this works well. I actually fell asleep with them on recently which was a first as I hate flying. Wearing them and walking I did feel a bit weird for some reason. I think it was the noise cancelling software, perhaps it’s a little too good?

The Bose’s – They feel lighter, easier to live with, more roomy than the Sony’s and not as tight a fit which I think makes the more comfortable. The noise cancellation is excellent and you can set them to high, low and off levels. The noise cancellation works very well, however not quite as good as the Sony’s, which you can fiddle with until your hearts content with the app. The sound quality is brilliant, you do get more mid level sound with the Bose, though the Sony’s were definitely louder with more richer base. I wish you could adjust the base and treble but you can’t or at least I can’t find out how you do it. You can adjust these setting with the Sony’s in the app.

The winner for me was the Bose. When I began looking for noise cancelling headphones I first began looking for the ‘best cancelling’ on the market but there are many other factors you need to consider when making a buying decision. For me that issue was comfort and ensuring they are ‘fit for the purpose of the wearer.

If like me you could end up wearing headphones for 2-6+hrs per day I would choose the Bose over the Sony’s in a heartbeat. They are lighter, your ears don’t get hot or sweaty when wearing them and they have more room. Yes the noise cancellation is very slightly substandard to the Sony’s when side by side testing (though still pretty amazing) and they aren’t as loud, but they are the best for all day wearers. If I only wanted to use my headphones for an hour or two per day, the Sony’s would win hands down (although I found them a little tight for my big head).

I advise you to try both pairs, but consider the anount of time you’ll wear them for each day as comfort is really important when you have to live with these headphones. Consider the weight you like to have on your head, comfort around your ears such as the fit and tightness. Comfort becomes more important than being able to fiddle with sounds such as base and noise cancellation when you don’t actually like the things in your head. So please buy the most comfortable and then everything else will fall into ace and you’ll love your decision between these two amazing brands.

Last point. If you go into a busy airport and watch the commuters in London you’ll quickly notice most people are wearing one brand in particular. You can guess which it is.
