I’m little disappointed with this purchase. As you can see the cooker fell on the floor once and the inside bowl is now crooked. The material should have been a little stronger. There were some minor bumps as well just while washing the bowl.
Will I be able to get a replacement of this bowl please? Rest of the cooker is fine just the bowl.

This rice cooker was such a great purchase! I love how simple it is to use and I love the fact that you don’t have to check in it and make sure it doesn’t burn unlike cooking it in a pot on a stove top. However, I bought the size for ‘3 cups uncooked‘ size and I always only ever put in 1 cup of uncooked rice for both me and my boyfriend. Once it’s fully cooked the pot is almost fuIl to the rim! It doesn’t bother me since 1 cup is more than enough for the two of us, but I feel like it could be misleading for others when purchasing. So if you’re looking to cook rice for a family of 4 or more, I definitely recommend you order a bigger size! Otherwise, I LOVE this mini rice cooker!!

This package took a little longer to arrive with Amazon. Approximately a week. Had checked locally, however, Amazon pricing was more competitive.
Our rice cooking on the stove in a pot was hit or miss. This rice cooker made it perfectly. The instruction book that came with was easy to follow and has many other suggestions and recipes (oatmeal, salmon, etc).
The cooker came with a plastic steamer basket, plastic spoon and plastic measuring cup. The plastic and interior pot are made of very thin materials. I could see how the pot would dent with dropping. I like that it stores everything inside itself to save space and keep everything together.
20 minutes and 2 cups of Jasmine rice was cooked to perfection. There is no on/off button. It goes directly to warm. For extended periods of time, without stirring, I could see the rice get crunchy. We did not have this issue.
Clean up was easy – pot is non-stick and everything just wiped out. Much easier than a pot on the stove.
We had originally considered the 3-cup cooker and happy we sized up. The “cup” is actually a 3/4 cup measure. The advertising of a 3 and 6-cup unit is slightly misleading.
After our first use, very happy with the purchase.

I’ve been using this rice cooker for a few weeks now.
The good: cooker is super easy to use and also easy to clean. I find the size to be perfect, and stores away easy. It’s also a very affordable price.
The bad: it says that it has a “3 cup of i cooker rice capacity”, but the cup refers to the cup it comes with, which is actually 3/4 cup. So this rice cooker actually only has a max capacity of 2 1/4 cups of uncooked rice. This is great for my husband and I, leaving left overs. The machine also only has two options: cook or warm. So it cannot be left plugged in, and will cause the rice to become crunchy if left on warm for too long.
Overall I would purchase this rice cooker again.
EDIT: it’s almost been a year and I still use this multiple times a week. The non stick interior still looks brand new and it works great. Live this rice cooker.

I’ve been using this rice cooker 2-3 times a week since I purchased it 7 months ago, can’t be more satisfied. Great item, works perfectly. I would suggest to not leave cooked rice for more than 5 minutes on the heater, or the rice in contact with the surface will slowly turn golden and change texture. Simply unplug if you plan to serve the rest within a few minutes, it’ll stay warm anyway with the lid on. I cook basmati, jasmine and sushi rice, all perfect every time !!

This is lightweight, easy to use and clean. Does steaming and cooking rice really well. Excellent value for the price. But I’m giving it two stars for the ridiculous bowl that is claimed to be dishwasher safe but is actually isn’t. This will work great if you use the product once in a while and handwash the bowl. But this clearly isn’t meant for moderate to high use and the cleaning that goes with it. If they would sell replacement bowl then I would be a satisfied customer. But guess what, the black and decker official website does not even list the damn RC516C product (it does list RC506 model, for what it’s worth).
I bought this end of May 2018 and started using mid-June 2018 and by Jan 2019, after careful (but regular) use to cook rice and steam veggies, the bowl has basically melted down an itd on the edges just below the rim have come apart at the seams.
I’m going to try their 2-year warranty claim next so if they honor that then I will update my rating accordingly. But be warned that if you’re a moderate to heavy user and looking for something that will last at least a year (given the price range, we shouldn’t be expecting more, which is unfortunate and a discussion for another forum), then this isn’t what you’re looking for. What’s frustrating is that the unit works like a charm but for the bowl that’s no longer safe to use (the nonstick layer and the structure did not hold up well even on my average residential dishwasher).
I ask the manufacturers to just offer replacement bowl. I’d be happy to pay money for it if it means less garbage to the landfill. As of now, I’m having to dump the entire unit. Ridiculous.
