I use this tamper with my Breville Barista Express (54mm) and it helps with consistent distribution and tamping to ensure a great extraction every time. Good quality. It has some weight to it. Highly recommend. Height can be adjusted as advertised.

I have a 53mm portafilter (Breville Barista Express) and I use 18g of high quality fresh beans per double basket. Look up (YouTube) how to set the height or just use the razor height tool this machine comes with.
This is a must for any serious espresso lover.

I used with Braville 54mm portfilter, it fits better than the tamper come with the machine. The distributor & tamper combo provides consistency results without any guess work. It is expensive but worth it. The build quality is good, however, it doesn’t come with any instructions for setups.

I am a beginner on the espresso making, and this tools made my day so much easier. I was nearly gave up before as I can’t make a consistent shots that is good enough to drink. However this distribution tools practically saved and justified my spending on the machine. I enjoy the process of making coffee now.

Despite its hefty price, the build quality is amazing on this. Solid heavy metal with good smooth threads. It works a charm on properly distributing and tamping my espresso grinds every morning.

Overall, works well and easy to adjust. Cons are that it doesn’t fit super well around the edges of the portafilter basket, would be better to get one 53.5mm for the 54mm portafilter basket. The coffee also gets stuck around the distributor edges of the tool and it can be annoying to clean. However, I haven’t had any problems with channeling and I get great results on my Breville Barista Express now.

I had bought the dosing funnel from MATOW so decided to buy the 53mm dual head coffee distributor & tamper. It fits perfectly for my 54mm portafilter that is for my breville bambino plus. I especially love how you can adjust the depth of the tamper and how the black handle sits wider than the portafilter. This allows you to adjust the tamper depth, and press down until the black handle reaches the portafilter. This allows for foolproof level tamping. Helped me immensely

There are many other brands of tamper/distributors, at a crazy variety of price points. I bought this after reading the reviews, and was pleasantly surprised that the actual product surpassed the glowing reviews.
It is what the reviewers said: hefty, well made, fits well, and gives consistent outcomes. And plus point, an elegant piece on my coffee counter… what more can I ask for at this price?? (maybe monogramming services? 😂)

The tamper is too short in case you want to dose a little shorter, especially with a good grinder—I’ve had it separate completely with 16-17g doses in the portafilter, which is not exactly a low dose.
The distributor has a lip above it before coming into the tool itself, so grounds are retained there sometimes. If the ground is fine enough it can mess with your dose.
Materials are good quality but design leaves a bit to be desired.

I love that I can tamp my coffee property, which the tamper that came with my coffee machine did not do well. Now, I make perfect coffee, as my Breville Tamper is very hard to even out the grind even withthe help of the blade. Perfect coffee all the time. The tamper is detachable for easy cleaning and adjustable for your coffee preference.

I was really struggling to get consistent tamps, to the point of regretting getting a nice home machine.
This product takes the “skill” aspect out of the equation and gives consistently balanced pucks.
The only issue I have is that you cannot adjust the depth of the distributor side. I put 14 grams in a 54 mm basket which is on the lower side, and at times, the distributor doesn’t reach the coffee. It’s not a biggie, and is easily addressed.
Edit 12 Jan 2021 – So I figured out that the distributor depth can also be adjusted (it was user error on my part). Changing to five stars.

Awesome! We have a Breville espresso machine and this tool works way better than the tamper it comes with. The distributor and tamper help make a great pull of espresso each time. We noticed a big difference is the consistency of our shots once we started using this tool.
It is a little expensive and I was worried about what the quality would be once I received it, but honestly we use it every day.
Makes a great gift when you know a friend or family member has an espresso machine.
