The kit had everything required to ensure that the protector could be easily installed with no bubbles or finger prints. Once applied it was completely invisible.

On my first outing, I managed to damage this screen protector. There were many deep scratches throughout. When I took the screen protector off, it basically cracked exposing even the smallest cracks I missed. It was dug into rocks, sand, and taken through heavy brush while hanging on my fishing bag/sling. Many times the bag must have rolled over and laid on the unit screen-side down on rocks, boulders, or sand. On this adventure the screen took a lot of abuse, much more than I would normally expose my device through. That being said, it did what it was supposed to do. When I removed the screen protector, my inReach screen was perfect. It took all the abuses and sacrificed itself to save my inReach screen.

While considering this review, consider that I see screen protectors for any product as “disposable”. Sometimes the intent is for a screen protector to be on a product for long periods of time (such as on a mobile phone) and others destroyed even after a couple of uses. In this case, I look at this product a short term product as my inReach is used for not just SOS, but tracking, which requires the device to mounted externally and exposed to the elements. Because of this, it is exposed to much more abuse. This does not mean this will need to be replaced as often I replace them, but it’s important to know the context.

The screen protector looks of good build, as it is seems pretty thick. The fit is very close to being exact. I have not seen any clarity issues, so with this product on, you can see the screen as if it was not there. The package comes with two protectors for around $10 (at the time of purchase), which makes this a great value considering a $5 product could save your inReach screen for the life of that product. Installation is easier than most glass screen protectors because it takes up the whole screen. Alignment is as easy as laying it down on an edge of the inReach screen and slowly laying it down by the plastic tabs it comes with.

The durability of this product, easy installation, and value makes this a good choice. I would highly recommend.

I wanted a screen protector for my InReach Explorer+ but I kept dragging my feet installing it because I had heard that it’s really a pain. Finally I started getting scratches on the screen and decided to bite the bullet and put the screen protector on, and it could not have been easier. Clean with the towelette they send, dry with the cloth (they actually don’t tell you to do this, but how else are you going to dry it?). I slightly lifted up on the tab because I had heard that it’s hard to lift up on the tab once you apply the protector, put the protector down, and pulled the tab the rest of the way off. No bubbles. Could not have been easier.

Fits well and good pricing

4 stars may be a bit generous. The material is great. The fit is perfect. What I did not like was that there were “tabs” on the top and bottom of the screen protector that I assume were supposed to tear off once the screen protector was in place. The problem is that they do not tear easily and I had to lift the screen protector and cut one of them off leaving an uneven edge that then would not adhere correctly to the screen. The tab on the other end ripped off pretty evenly and did not cause any problems. I will probably end up replacing the first screen protector with the spare included in the box but not before using a razor knife to remove the tabs before applying the new film to the screen.
