Midazolam is used for anesthesia and conscious sedation during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Midazolam is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of a chemical messenger (GABA) which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.
