Bicornuate uterus: The bicornuate uterus

The bicornuate uterus, commonly referred to as "uterus bicornis," is a congenital uterine anomaly characterized by a heart-shaped uterus with two conjoined cavities instead of a single, unified cavity. A bicornuate uterus results from abnormal development of the paramesonephric ducts. There is a partial failure of fusion of the ducts, resulting in a uterus divided into two horns. Participants will explore the embryologic development of the uterus, learn to distinguish a bicornuate uterus from similar anomalies using imaging techniques, and review current evidence-based approaches to management. A congenital uterine defect known as a bicornuate uterus is characterised by the uterus’s heart-shaped form and two cavities rather than the usual one. When the Müllerian ducts do not completely fuse during fetal development, the uterine cavity divides, causing this disease.
