The declining child sex ratio was a challenge for the State so joint actions of Government with the civil society was taken up in a campaign mode `beti Vadhaao andolan'. Government roped in community leaders, religious leaders, women's groups and NGOs for this. The Overall Goal of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme is to celebrate the girl child and enable her education. The objectives of the Scheme are to prevent gender biased sex selective elimination, to ensure survival and protection of the girl child, and to ensure education and participation of the girl child.
