Smaller than I thought but works great

This arrived without one of the silicone “stoppers” or “bumpers” on one of the flaps. No big deal I thought. But, the plastic body of this thing melts when it touches a pan/pot! It’s ONLY the silicone bumpers that are truly heat-proof. On top of that, the bumpers mean that you need to use it in big pots otherwise it’s too narrow. Bottom line, I use my old-fashioned metal one most of the time.

Bien fait, facile à nettoyer mais trop gros pour les chaudrons standards. Doit être utilisé dans de grandes marmites. Pas idéal pour de petites portions.

Three of the feet fell off the first time we used it. It also buckled a bit so it doesn’t open or close symmetrically. We just steamed some cauliflower… total waste of money.

Works as advertised. No complaints

Melted the first time I used it 🙁 there was water in the pan and wasn’t on the heat longer than to steam some broccoli. So disappointed.

Update: 2 months of use, and the handle popped off, when I tried to pick up my veggies. Disappointed.
I am not a foodie, or a cook- so, absolutely nothing for the kitchen gets me excited lol- But, this steamer is really neat! I love that it folds to fit inside almost any size pot, it’s easy to clean, and easy to use.

Melted on second use

Very much bigger than my old silicone steamer, and the only saucepan it would fit in with the lid closed, was my big casserole pot! I know the size is included in the listing but I stupidly assumed our saucepan set would be big enough, as all other steamers I’ve used have been fine. Sadly also if you are steaming small vegetables such as peas or sweetcorn they fall through the gaps between the leaves.
Overall I’ve used it twice and am now looking at buying another soft silicone steamer which is what I had before.

Melted and burnt my pan on first use…must keeping a close and regular eye on water levels. Which sounds obvious but feel this is more a design fault. You cannot see the bottom of your pan whwn basket is in, so simply guessing how much water you have or don’t have in my case. Over fill and your just boiling the veg. I would say you need to be very attentive, legs aren’t tall on this so cannot put much water in and have to keep topping the water up. Carrots for example will need top ups three or four times maybe more. I’ll stick to my Asian bamboo pots that sit on top of a pan

Bought last month, ruined on 2nd use. Somehow, the glue on the little rubber feet melted and the whole thing started to melt. I’ll just buy another Starfrit plastic steamer, which lasted me at least 6 years.

Beware that, when placed in a 8″ pot, both the basket opening and capacity are greatly reduced. This is due to the “feet” on the wings resting against the side of the pot bringing the wings to fold toward the center of the basket. A 10″ dutch oven type pot is required to utilize the full basket capacity. Also, I should have read the reviews! After reading some of the other reviews I’ve decided to discard the unit: there’s too many “melting” and “breaking” comments. Since I used it once, I will not return it. And I also have discarded all original packaging (if there was any…)

Absolutely rubbish. What a waste of money. There are so many little rubber bits that fall off each time you use it, the petals also fall off. There’s always a risk that you could inadvertently swallow a piece of broken off rubber, or heaven forbid, whizz it up and feed it to a human. Poor design, poor product.
