These bags don’t pull a vacuum with my Food Saver. The Food Saver bags seem to be heaver, I think the SimpleHouseware Vacuum Bags are thinner so the air channels are smashed during the Vacuum process preventing the air from being removed. I tested the machine fallowing online Food Saver troubleshooting guide. The photos are the inferior SimpleHouseware bag no air removed, Food Saver bag with a total vacuum, and the Food saver I was using. If I could I would give the bags a -10 for wasting my time.

One of the complaints on here, was that the bags stuck to the heating bar. They are lighter in weight than the “Brand Name” bags. The first bag I sealed did stick slightly to the bar. On the second bag, I set the bag in the sealer and had to walk away for a minute. When I returned the bag had been sitting in the sealer for maybe 30 secs to a minute. I opened the sealer up and no sticking at all. I played around with the next several bags I sealed, if you open it immediately after the machine stops it will stick. If you leave it for between 5-10 secs no sticking at all. I am very satisfied with these bags and as long as my results don’t vary roll to roll, I will no longer be buying the “Brand Name” bags.

    Note: Please read follow-up below.
These rolls fit nicely in the FM5000 series Foodsaver vacuum sealer. The textured plastic material seals and holds a vacuum with excellent results. I’ve made many bags so far of various sizes with no issues. The price and quality is a good value and will help save on making bags. 100 feet should last quite a while. The thickness and quality of the material seems as good or better than the original samples shipped with the Foodsaver. The only slight gripe is the lack of white areas to mark the bags. However, a marking pen works fine.

Follow-up: After using these bags for several months, I am downgrading my initial review from 5 stars to two stars. I’ve been using various models of Foodsaver machines for years with FoodSaver brand bags and rarely have had any bag failures. Usually the failures were my fault caused by poor sealing as I learned to vacuum seal stuff. After making over 75 bags with the SimpleHouseware bags, I’ve experienced about a 25% failure rate (vacuum loss) during long-term freezer storage and several immediate failures. Upon scrutiny of the failed bags there appeared to be several causes: 1) Sharp edges of T-bone steak have punctured several bags, 2) Wrinkles in the bag during sealing caused a poor seal (the last 5 feet of two of the rolls were very wrinkled and needed to be discarded), 3) One roll came with several abrasions and small punctures near the middle of the roll – apparently during production – these bags failed immediately, 4) Several bags gradually lost vacuum and I couldn’t see any cause. I haven’t lost food since I discovered the failures before the food became freezer burned and I re-vacuumed items using FoodSaver brand bags. I’ve switched back to the FoodSaver bags and discarded the remaining portion of my 4th and last roll. Because of these experiences I cannot recommend these bags. Perhaps I got a bad batch, but the cost savings is not worth the added risk of bag failures. Initially I thought the bags were a good value, but long-term they didn’t perform well.

You do get a lot for the price. Because It’s so thin and only textured one side, when my machine locks, the clamping pressure of my machine flattens the bag’s texture and it’s not able to vacuum the air out. It’s hit or miss, 35% of the time i need to fiddle with the bag for a few mins before getting it to work. The bags are very thin compared to my original bags. When vacuum sealing shrimp, the tails just puncture the bag which never happened with the original bags that are much thinker.

When I first started using these rolls, I thought it worked fine. After a short time, the film was no longer tight against the food. I tried resealing it and had the same problem. I tried another piece, and still the same problem. As I worked my way down through the roll, I found that the material was creased progressively worse the more you unrolled it. I even tried a second roll, and even the first bag off that roll would not seal even after just a few hours. Do not purchase this product, it is a complete waste of your money.

I’m a penny pincher (hence the reason I have a FoodSaver to begin with) and when I saw I could save money with these rolls, I jumped on it. It took several ruined batches of food from the same weekend to see these didn’t seal the same. (One side is completely smooth and I think this has something to do with it.) It can leave miniscule parts that are not fully fused in the seal that you can’t see until you go back either a few minutes or hours later. Because of this, I started really paying attention and giving an extra full minute at the end of each seal/vac session for the heat to work. I just sealed a whole turkey I baked over the weekend and had to go back and reseal every single bag even though holding it up to the light made it look totally sealed. A quick check in 30 minutes showed every bag was not tightly sealed and the hole was negligible. If I hadn’t caught it, that would’ve been $40 out the window. As much as I don’t want to, I’m going back to FoodSaver brand bags. I never had problems with it until I switched to these bags. At least going through a rebate company I can get a percentage back and feel a little better about having to spend a little more.

For me have cabela’s vacuum sealer and find I have to use seal function twice to get good seal. Also as you work your way through the roll the folds in the bags from being rolled also don’t seal so as others have mentioned only really can use 1/2 of the roll without trying to flatten out creases.

Easy to use. Note only the front side is textured inside the bag. The backside is smooth. Still works fine. I was able to vacuum seal a 16lb strip loin. I’m using with the Greyson vacuum sealer. Works fine. I also was able to use it for chicken thighs, left 2 inch spacing between thighs and was able to vacuum seal it. Great value, will be ordering again!

These after market, online only freezer wraps have made me leery in the past, but decided to try this brand after reading reviews from others….
I am happy to say that these are almost a duplicate of those in the high priced FS brand boxes. they are a shade thinner, but seal and perform just great in our sealer.
Great product, excellent price and fast delivery.
We will purchase again when required.

I do not often write reviews however I felt like I had to for this product. My hope is that if I write this review and people like it they will buy more of the rolls/bags and help keep the price the same or lower for the next time I buy these rolls again. The rolls are definitely bigger than the starter roll that came with my Foodsaver FM5380 from Sam’s Club. I went through that roll pretty quickly, I do not know if it was because the bags were not so good on that starter roll or because I had a learning curve to conquer, but they did not hold up too well. Needless to say I felt like I wasted a good roll from Foodsaver, however I still had 8 more rib eyes I needed to wrap. Not realizing how expensive rolls were I decided to take a shot at these bags. The first thing I did was roll half of the roll onto the empty roller from the starter roll. The roll then fit perfectly under the sealer. The bags worked great and either they worked better than the Foodsaver brand roll or I mastered my learning or I think both. I do miss the little white section on the bags from the FoodSaver brand that allows a spot to write the date and contents, however for a fraction of the price, I do not miss it too much. Only one bag punctured but that was due to a very shop bone. After smoothing it out there were no more issues. I’ll keep my eyes on them and if they do not hold up I’ll update my review. For the time being I recommend these bags over the Foodsaver brand.

I was a little hesitant to purchase these, I didn’t know if they would be any good. Well they are very good. I have purchased probably 6 different types food saver bags in the past 2 years trying to find one that I liked more than the others. Well maybe this is the one. Every one that was cut did seal and no air leaked in later (even in the bags that I did not seal twice). There was ample room for the large loaves of bread to slide into the bags and when I stopped the vacuuming process and just sealed the bags sealed without a problem. Two months after sealing fruit breads the breads remain sealed and when I cut into them the product is fresh. The price of these bags make it even better, because they are less expensive than the other bags I have purchased in the past. I did a lot of baking at Christmas and have already used up one roll and am well into the second roll (yes I do bake that much sourdough bread and I give it to people at my church). Yes the clear side the material does seem to be of a more stiff cellophane, but it did not damage the product I put into it and when I give this product to others they can see it clearly and are pleased with the freshness that has been preserved. I think that perhaps I have found a product I will reorder more than twice especially if the price stays where it is at.
Great product as far as I am concerned.
ADDENDUM 9/7/2017 Have some difficulties with the bags sealing at the end of the roll. The last 2 or 3 feet are just difficult to impossible to seal sometimes and I have to toss it. I am glad it doesn’t seal I have to admit, if it had a weak seal my food (bread and meat)would freezer burn, so it isn’t that much of a biggy. I did need to add this. I still think this is a good product and will continue to buy.

We ran out of the brand Food Saver bags and thought to give these bags a shot for more bang for our buck. After using it on steak, my husband saw some checkers pattern on the steak and thought it was likely from the bag being so tight on the steak while cooking that we assumed it made an impression onto the meat. WRONG! We ate it not thinking twice…bad idea. The next day we did it again for chicken…and noticed while it was cooking there was a small amount of air in the bag, my husband figured it was just an issue with sealing possibly (even thought that was NEVER an issue when using the brand name bags). But much worse…after opening the meat from the bag to grill it, we noticed the checker pattern left on the chicken was NOT just a pattern from being tightly sealed against the meat…but rather the INNER PLASTIC BAG came apart and was cooked INTO the chicken!! We tried prying the plastic off the chicken but it was SO difficult to determine which is plastic and what is seasning or chicken meat/skin. After trying to take off the plastic pieces we decided to throw out the $20 chicken because we couldn’t confidently say we got all the plastic off and was also concerned what glue was still on it. We have SO much of this roll left and unfortunately already sealed about $200+ of striploin steaks. We’ll be buying the brand name Food Saver bags and going to re-seal all our meats in those. What a waste!! We cooked the steak to 130 degrees and chicken to 165 degrees so I’m unsure if it’s just because the plastic bags were being cooked in hot water…but warning you to NOT use this for sous vide – we feel AWFUL about our steak even, our kids even ate the steak so I’m very worried if we kept cooking like this before noticing. Please be careful
