I bought this Joby 3K to use on my current trip to Scotland, it was fine the first two days and then a leg pops off making adjustments. I was really enjoying it, had just told a friend how much I liked it and then it broke. It’s plastic, it’s stiff, it cracked and a section popped out and now it’s garbage. I will not be back to Canada soon enough to return it within the month warranty. My recommendation is to NOT buy this product. It’s not durable, it broke very easily just by adjusting a leg. It was $81 CDN and it lasted 2 days. Personally, I didn’t want to believe the poor reviews, I thought it would last a few years, but apparently it won’t even last a week if you actually use it. So very very disappointed.

I’ve used various tripods with a variety of cameras over the years, and was attracted to the lightweight and versatile nature of the gorilla pod. Unfortunately after minimal usage small micro fractures developed in the plastic housing for one of the legs, meaning that the leg became loose and eventually fell off. Not sure I’d risk mounting expensive kit on this tripod.

Schaut euch zuerst einfach mal die 5 Bilder an. Die Qualität und die Verarbeitung scheint ziemlich gut zu sein. Keine Kanten, alles komplett glatt. Review mit der Canon 800D/T7i als Kamera. Ich habe mir anstatt den 1k extra den 3k geholt um sicher zu gehen dass meine DSRL mit Objektiv nicht runterfällt, wäre im Endeffekt teurer für mich als der Preisunterschied zwischen 1k und 3k.
Bislang nutzte ich nur ein Steh-Stativ, welches jedoch sperrig ist, nicht extrem transportfähig (Rucksack) und sich auch nicht in allen Positionen anbringen lässt. Da ich nun von “Hobby” etwas profesioneller werden will, kaufte ich mir das Joby 3k im Black Friday Sale! Hab es für unschlagbare 44€ bekommen. Augen auf also, bei bekannten Sales Tagen wird hier der Preis um die gute Hälfte reduziert. Hatte es schon zuvor im Auge, jedoch war nun der perfekte Zeitpunkt vorhanden.
Nun zur Qualität: Die Gorillafüße sind stabil, lassen sich gleichzeitig aber doch gut verbiegen wenn man sie umpositionieren will. Der Kugelkopf zeigt auch eine wirklich sehr gute Verarbeitung und hier ist sogar noch eine Wasserwaage enthalten um die Kamera gerade auszurichten. Hatte nicht damit gerechnet, also noch ein netter Pluspunkt. Auch nach mehrmaligen Verbiegen sind die Beine noch super in Ordnung, es hat sich bis dato nichts geändert.
Anwendbarkeit: Wie ihr in einem Bild entnehmen könnt, hällt der 3k auch auf glatten Oberflächen, Vorsicht aber hier. Es hielt nur in gerader Position, seitlich hielt es nicht! Auf rauen Flächen ist es kein Problem ihn seitlich anzubringen, auf glatten Flächen funktioniert es allerdings nur, wenn die Kamera on top ist. Deshalb werde ich hier einen halben Stern abziehen. Stehend macht das Ding einen wundervollen Job und durch den Kugelkopf kann man die DSLR nach Lust und Laune positionieren.
Zubehör (nicht im Produkt enthalten): Joby. Sollte alles sagen 🙂 Zubehör gibt es ohne Ende. Also habe ich mir noch das Arm Upgrade geholt, erkennt ihr an der Silberplatte unter dem Drehkopf und den 2 Armen. Hiermit kann ich ohne Probleme mein Note 8 und eine Gopro anbringen und es hängt/steht immer noch alles stabil. Dies war auch der Grund weshalb ich mir den 3k anstatt den 1k gekauft habe, nun kann ich das volle Potential ausschöpfen.
Preis: Gehen wir davon aus, dass ich 100€ anstatt 44€ gezahlt hätte – für ein Ministativ ist dies schon ein gehöriger Preis. Auch die Frage wie ein Hersteller die Ware um nahezu 60% billiger anbieten kann, obwohl dies kein Ausverkauf war. Ich finde der Preis ist wirklich etwas zu teuer bei dem Originalpreis. 60-70€ fände ich hier als angemessen. Deshalb werde ich hierfür einen halben Stern abziehen.
Zusammenfassung: Ein super transportfähiges Stativ mit vielen Upgrademöglichkeiten. Ihr solltet jedoch auf einen Sale warten um es günstig zu ergattern! Auf glatten Flächen hält es hochkant jedoch nicht, seitlich ab und an. Preis finde ich bei dem Originalpreis auch zu hoch angesetzt.

First trip, taking my EOS R with 28-70mm F2 lens + sliding plate, total weight 2.2KG and the Joby 3K GorillaPod. I balanced my camera using an extra 140g sliding plate that puts the Gorillapod mount directly under the fat lens.
I put it on flat concrete floor, it takes a good 1-2 min before it feels sturdy-ish and doesnt right away collapse under my setup. a bit better on really rough floor.
And of course it happened: first day, of use, i put it on a wide enough and perfectly flat wall (overlooking the western wall in Jerusalem) – I started my timer, the legs collapsed 2 seconds later and dropped my camera from 1.5m onto a concrete floor, broke the EVF magnesium housing and scratches all around.
The head, if properly tightened seems fine, its just the legs that don’t hold it.

I had taken this to New York and it worked amazing. However, the moment I had taken it out in Hawaii, a leg just fell off. I would understand if I had hit it on something, but it literally just fell off by itself. Not even touching anything! I was in absolute shock and disappointed that I couldn’t use it anymore on my trip. I guess I made a mistake by not reading all the reviews, but some others had this happen too. I used under the maximum weight and it couldn’t hold its position. Even when I used a lighter setup it could barely hold. It seems the three main connection points that held on to the body were much looser than the other joints. Either way I returned it because I expected it to be much better quality for the price.
The joby 3k is rated at 3kg. I was using a Nikon d610 (0.85 kg) and Tamron 70-200 g2 (1.47 kg) which equals up to 2.32 kg. I also tried the d610 (0.85 kg), Nikon 105mm 2.8 (0.72 kg) and the yongnuo YN568EX (0.558 kg) which equals up to 2.128 kg. Neither could hold positions without sagging but it was particular bad on the 105mm setup which is odd because it’s lighter. Either way, very disappointed in this product. I had specifically calculated the weight I needed and ordered this product because I thought it could handle the weight it advertised. I was wrong.

Had a few GorillaPods over the years. Eventually upgraded to their metal pro version, which lasted me a while. Eventually that broke, and I was in the market for a new pod. This one lasted maybe 2 outings before one of the plastic cases cracked and part of the leg popped off. Was able to stick it back in, but now one of the legs is noticable more loose.
Save your money, buy one of the cheaper Chinese knock offs; they are probably the same quality.

Very pleased with this purchase because the price was right! I have been wanting a smaller/lightweight tripod for about a year and a half so I finally decided to make the purchase. I am so glad I gave this a try because it weighs next to nothing but can be wrapped around objects/bent in all sorts of ways.
It really is a treat using this product but it can be difficult to straighten out the legs after bending them – this isn’t a negative though because otherwise your camera would just fall over. The tension on the legs is good and hopefully, it lasts over time. No issues with my Sony A7iii and 24-105 (note if you are using this combo be conscious of how you position the legs (stance, direction, etc.) as this combo is a little front heavy, otherwise it may tip due to user error.

I bought this for my girlfriend’s upcoming holiday with friends. All in all, I’m impressed.
* It’s easy to bend the tripod into new positions * It can hold up to 3KG of weight * The included ball head and release head are good * It’s light so can be used for vlogging
There are a lot of complaints online about these breaking. It hasn’t happened to the one I bought, but it is something to be conscious of. If you don’t bend it into obscure positions and put too much load on it, it should be OK; but be aware that it can happen.
Overall, I am happy with the purchase and may buy one for myself.

I’m an outdoor and travel blogger so was looking for an affordable, lightweight and versatile tripod. I already had the mini size Gorillapod (for my GoPro) and could balance a point and shoot on it as well, but it wasn’t big enough for my mirrorless with zoom lens, so I purchased the GorillaPod 3K. It is very quick and easy to set up whether you put it on rocks or in a tree and the level is also a handy feature. I am able to level the camera and flip the screen of my Sony a6000 so I can zoom in as needed and adjust all my settings without picking the camera up. It fits nicely in the side of my backpack, but I would’ve liked it have longer legs for those times there isn’t a tree to put the camera in (shooting up people’s noses isn’t attractive or flattering). Overall, very happy with it; I just wish the legs were a bit longer.

You don’t want to mount expensive cameras on a cheap, flimsy pod, do you? No! You want the rugged, original JOBY GorillaPod for your gear! I’ve now used this in the field with my heavy DSLR cameras mounted with telephoto lenses and with my light Sony @6400. Worked great. I have the confidence in this unit that it will hold my gear and keep it safe. When you need the best — buy the best. (I need to buy the camera mounts so I don’t have to unscrew the mount each time I want to mount a new camera. They sell those separately, I hope.)

I bought this just a couple of months ago. I have an SL2 DSLR and a wide angle lens, both weight a combined 1 KG and this Gorilla pod is rated for 3K. The quick release clamp doesn’t hold it anymore, an I almost dropped my camera and lens the other day. When I Contacted Joby directly for warranty on it, they said that Since you bought from Amazon there is no Warranty cover on it.
Buy at your own risk.

Habe das Stativ seit 2017, bisher war ich ganz zufrieden, da ich es mit meiner Sony a6000 und Standardobjektiven nutzte. Alles kompakt, klein, und hauptsächlich das heutzutage übliche Plastik. Nun aber habe ich Objektive, die mit der Kamera zusammen 1,7 kg auf die Waage bringen. Und nun bin ich absolut enttäuscht, denn nicht mal 1,7 kg hält das Jobi 3K. Die Beine machen selbst auf rauhen Untergründen die Grätsche. Egal, wie ich die Füße drehe. Na klar ist ein schweres Objektiv kopflastig, aber auch wenn ich zwei der Beine unter das Objektiv drehe, sackt es zusammen. Wie kann man da 3 kg versprechen? Absolute Verarsche.
