I purchased this lens to use on my Canon T6i camera. The first few times I turned it on I got an error message but it worked after turning the camera off and back on. After several tries it seems ok now and hopefully will not be a problem later. Otherwise this is a good inexpensive handy little lens.

Love this lens. My previous one broke after about 5 years, we had it fixed but it only lasted about another 1.5 yr so we decided on a new one when it stopped working again. This one is working very well. It is super quiet when focusing! Let’s hope it lasts much longer than the last one!

Good for the money. Slightly more light gathering (f3.5-5.6) than the next version of this lens (f4-5.6). I’m getting this to replace a 10 year old earlier version (non STM) of the same lens that stopped focusing.
This lens’s main drawbacks are 1) not much light gathering so not much good in low light; 2) barrel distortion significant at the 18mm end of the zoom – something that can be corrected digitally later.
Main strengths: 1) price; 2) decent image stabilization; 3) respectable sharpness in its mid-range aperture; 4) silent focusing for video.

Belle qualité photo. Autofocus rapide. Excellent pour les portraits. Arrive dans les délais prévus. Je mets 4 car avec 55 mm maximum, je me suis senti restreint dans les possibilités de photos. Je l’ai retourné et je me suis tourné vers un 18-135 mm qui offre une plage focale bcp plus grande

because of the new design the minimum focal distance is greater and with the ultra quiet focus it first appeared that the lens was not focusing. After visiting a camera store I learned the difference. My first review of this lens was not good as I sent the first one back because I could not get it to focus. I was waiting to see the end of the lens turn and to hear the motor. The absence of the noise and the movement are what is good about this lens and tech. I just have to get used to it. The new lens is also a bit shorter than the original.

que venía originalmente con mi cámara y se descompuso por un golpe. Este lente enfoca casi de manera instantánea y sin hacer ruido, cuando el anterior tardaba varios segundos en enfocar y el ruido del motor era bastante fuerte. Además, el lente no gira, por lo que puedes usar un mejor parasol que el que usaba en mi lente anterior. Muy buena compra y a muy buen precio.

En remplacement du même type d’objectif tombé en panne, je constate une grande amélioration du fonctionnement sur ce qui est en fait un modèle plus récent, je ne peux que conseiller ce modèle……………..

On October 5th, 2020 I bought Canon EOS Rebel T7 18-55mm IS II Digital Camera, the lens worked only 8 months, I didn’t buy warranty as I used to do in the past. For this new lens I bought 3 years warranty. Hopefully will work smoothly for 3 years

Had this for about 2 years now, switched from USM to STM for YouTube videos (the autofocus was so obnoxious and not smooth and now its silent and smooth). Very happy with this lens. Look forward to getting a EF 50 mm f/1.8 STM next!
