Cons:
– I can’t get the battery to charge at all
– The touch screen is sluggish
– For 300+ dollars you expected it to work right out of the box but mine is not
– it was not presented in the box like the photo which almost makes me think it’s a fake.
– only works when plugged into power source
– did not ship with the curved mount. it did have the flat one
Conclusions:
If you buy things like this make sure you buy them in a stor that way if there is a problem you can go back and get it replaced the same day. As for the charging part If I cannot get the battery to charge I will be returning it.

Ich habe die Gopro Hero5 black Ende August bestellt um sie im Urlaub zu gebrauchen. Ein paar Tage ging das auch gut. Ich habe sie heute morgen im pool getestet weil wir morgen zum Schnorcheln einen Ausflug machen wollen. Direkt nach dem Pool Test hab ich gesehen wie die Kamera einen Leck hat, das Display vorne wurde beschlagen. Ich habe die Kamera zum trocknen ausgelegt, nach dem Sie trocken war ging sie aus. Jetzt kann ich sie nicht mehr einschalten und auch nicht aufladen. Meine Enttäuschung ist groß da ich mich bewusst für ein Qualitätsprodukt entschieden habe und bereit war dafür den Preis zu bezahlen. Und jetzt sowas… Sehr ärgerlich wenn die Kamera genau dann versagt wenn man sie braucht. Sobald ich zurück aus dem Urlaub bin werde ich mich mit dem Kundendienst in Verbindung setzen.

Takes great shots and since the price drop was well worth the purchase for my upcoming trips. Unless you’re a pro photographer (then you’re not using a GoPro) you don’t need the Hero 6. Save yourself the money and get the 5.

Got one for use on holiday, first impressions are good. The footage of myself and my son on zip lines in Mexico is amazing. We used it whilst snorkeling and were really happy with the results.
The first issue that I have is that the battery life is quite limited, I got about an hour and a half on a full charge. I bought a spare to overcome this but it’s still something to be aware of if you have a full day of action.
My second problem came after a few days when I found that one of the tabs had snapped on the frame that carries the camera, I had only been snorkeling in the sea at this point so I have no idea how this happened. I looked into this and found that it’s quite a common problem. Amazon are changing the case for me and I am going to buy a third party replacement case with stronger tabs.
All in all I am really happy with my purchase.

Bought this as a gift for my father an he’s loving it so far. Only a couple of comments, first it doesn’t come with a instruction manual, which makes it a bit harder for older people to start using it. It also does not allow you to charge the battery and take video at the same time, and if you want to mount it somewhere and charge it is not possible either, cause the case won’t allow you to open the USB port.

Recently used on holiday and found it to be an excellent camera. Only downside was it does not come with a good instruction manuel so I would advise looking on YouTube for some of the many videos explaining how to open and remove the battery etc. The camera is very simple to use and can also be controlled via the GroPro Apps. Images and videos can be very easily transferred to your smartphone. The screen is very small but this is really a click and forget type camera and the camera is always in focus. The actual footage is very good. Also used underwater and the footage was amazing. I would really recommend this camera. 10/10!
Also there are many accessories you can buy. I purchased one but the underwater float was junk and so I purchased a genuine GroPro holder/float and it did won’t it said it would do. Please don’t risk spending £100’s on your camera and trust it to a piece of junk buy the genuine GoPro handle/float. They are worth the £20.

Unless you like burning money, i strongly recommend you do not purchase this camera. Here’s my story with it.
After 18 months of very light usage, it suddenly just stopped working and im talking bricked out… dead weight. Going through all the trouble -shooting the internet can provide and the GoPro forum yielded no result to the situation.
During my intense research there was a little unspoken pattern emerging, that this was happening to A LOT of people. And that if i know i was playing Russian roulette while buying this expensive camera i would’ve thought twice.
As for asking goPro for help forget it, if you had that camera for over a year they won’t help you and give you the generic “go to a service center and pay expensive repairs worth more than the camera initial price” runaround.
In conclusion this camera sucks. It’s unreliable and look for “GoPro HERO5 Black not powering on” to know how you’ve just avoided losing money.

I bought this product specifically because it is waterproof.
I brought this with me to Hawaii for my honeymoon. The very first time I went a foot under water because a huge turtle was right beside me and I had a great shot to take – the screen was on and everything seemed fine. I took the video. And powered off. 5 minutes later I went to use it again and it would not turn on. I thought perhaps the battery had died. When I went back to my hotel to charge it , 2 minutes later I felt the go pro and it had heated up to an insane tempature that was hot to touch. I unplugged. I have had no luck turning the unit back on. This was SO disappointing as this was very early in on my honeymoon and I missed out on many more opportunities to use the device and capture moments. My wife and I are very very disappointed in the product ! Used my phone for pictures rest of trip but missed out on shots I was hoping to capture with the GoPro.

This little thing is impressive! Video and photo quality is unreal for such a compact device. 2 complaints but are not deterrents for me: 1) with the screen being so small the “touch screen” isn’t the most responsive and 2) battery life is weak but more than manageable (and you can always purchase additional batteries)

a livello tecnico non aggiungo altro di quello gia’ detto da persone piu’ competenti di me.
il mio uso di questa action cam e’ esclusivamente di riprese in moto, venendo da una Nilox Foolish mi aspettavo delle differenze qualitative ma non così abissali…vorrei precisare che guido una Ducati e come gli appassionati sapranno le vibrazioni sono altissime rendendo le riprese mooolto mosse quasi fastidiose.
cercavo recensioni che mi dessero indicazioni se cambiare moto oppure videocamera….:-) ho optato per la soluzione piu’ economica e ieri mi e’ arrivata la mia 5Black.
provata subito anche in condizioni di pessimo asfalto….che dire il video e’ stabile e con una definizione spettacolare anche senza usare il 4K

It comes in perfect condition. I did a quick test when it arrives and worked fine. A month later, when I was using it for real in a trip I notice that when the camera auto-rotate and a few times it couldn’t return, making movies and photos upside down. To return for normal position I had to restart the camera, because of that I lose record of some good moments. But, the worst part for me was when I tried to download my photos and videos from my 2 SD 64Gb (both of then was almost full) and I it didn’t work through their software and also I had problems tried to get it direct from the SD card in my computer. I had this issue with both SD cards (I used the SanDisk recommended by GoPro website), and I tried in 2 different computers. I also lose some videos and photos, because they were corrupted, and it takes 2 days to get those (I had to go file by file to get it).

Perfect go pro. As expected. Many functions on this camera. Would recommend getting a second battery w/separate charger for on the go.

This camera is the height of modern technology; the amount of tech that is crammed into this tiny thing is extraordinary. I was so pleased after buying this because the quality of the recordings is astonishing. It can record in a variety of different resolutions, dimensions and frame rates including 4K@30fps , 2.7K@60fps , 1080p@120fps and 720p@240fps. The lens is very wide and pictures can be saved in RAW formats which is useful. The waterproof case is a sleek design and is very hardy. I also love the in built GPS that allows you to apply overlays in the GoPro software like speedometers and loads of other information trackers. There are just so many features that I cannot outline all of them in this review.
One problem I have come across is that when I took this in the see body-boarding, although the waterproof case prevented water from entering the camera, sand and salt got stuck in the groove between the screen and the body of the camera – some of which I could not remove! This is also quite expensive, for the price I am paying, I would appreciate a second battery as standard as I had to purchase a second one. However, they do charge very quickly thanks to the USB type C charger.
You also require a decent microSDHC\microSDXC card as 4K video requires very fast write speeds so bear that in mind when buying this camera (I have a V30 rated SDHC).
To summarise, this really is a great camera and I am glad that I have bought it despite the price. I recommend this action cam over others as I simply don’t trust the alternative cheapo action cams on Amazon, at least when you are buying from GoPro, you are guaranteed quality and reliability.
